Default Remington and Liberty Civil Defense

What's everyone's opinion of Remington 9mm fmj for range and Civil Liberty 50 grain 2000 fps for defense?

I've shot a few hundred rounds of Remington this year without issue. The 124 grain UMC is flashy though.

The liberty is a very poor choice for self defense. Choose something on Dr Roberts list instead.

9 mm:
Barnes XPB 115 gr JHP (copper bullet)
Federal Tactical 124 gr JHP (LE9T1)
Federal HST 124 gr +P JHP (P9HST3)
Remington Golden Saber bonded 124 gr +P JHP (GSB9MMD)
Speer Gold Dot 124 gr +P JHP
Winchester Ranger-T 124 gr +P JHP (RA9124TP)
Winchester 124 gr +P bonded JHP (RA9BA)
Winchester Ranger-T 127 gr +P+ JHP (RA9TA)
Federal Tactical 135 gr +P JHP (LE9T5)
Hornady Critical Duty 135 gr +P PT
Federal HST 147 gr JHP (P9HST2)
Remington Golden Saber 147 gr JHP (GS9MMC)
Speer Gold Dot 147 gr JHP
Winchester Ranger-T 147 gr JHP (RA9T)
Winchester 147 gr bonded JHP (RA9B/Q4364)

Never heard of Civil Liberties but Remington should be fine for range

EDIT
I just watched their gel test and it's a poor choice. Starts to expand almost immediately and completely expanded at 5 inches with a fragment traveling to the 11 inch mark. That would make a nasty flash wound but that's not a good thing. Ideally you want the round to retain as much mass as possible with a controlled expansion, not fragmentation, and penetration of at least 12 inches

I have only tried Remington 9mm in their 115 gr FMJ load. Poor ammo
in my experience, underloaded so much that it won't even cycle the
action on some of my autos. Only chronographs about 1080 fps out
of a full size auto. I advise you to try some in your gun before buying
in quantity.

The lightest bullet to pass is a all copper and a 115gr +P+ that some pistols should not use.

Might as well go to the 124gr or heavier and join the mass......

Standard pressure loads in less than a 4" barrel do not always perform correctly. So a +P loading is advised if the pistol can handle it.

If you have a 4" or longer barrel, most quality ammo will do the job but you do need to see if it will function in your weapon.

Good shopping.

I've posted this before. I killed a four point buck with Liberty Civil Defense in a 40 cal Glock right before last Christmas. One shot and dead. I called a friend to come get the meat. He told me he had never seen so much damage to a deer that was shot in the chest. . .wanted to know what I shot him with. The deer had suffered a broken leg being hit by a car at the back of my property and I had to dispatch him. No, I don't hunt deer with a 40 cal sub-compact. Of all the damage I've ever seen done to an animal after being shot, the Liberty Civil Defense loads surpass everything by far.

What exactly are your experiences with animals being shot, Mr. Doc? You state that its done more damage to an animal shot by far, but what exactly is your experience with shooting animals? What calibers, loads, ranges, and conditions? Please describe the damage done to the deer you mentioned and how closely you examined the deer and its wound? How shallow/deep was the wound track? Where did it do the most damage?

I remember your previous post well, being your first, and on the last Liberty Civil Defense thread. I'm more interested in your experience and how it may be relevant to self defense.
