What will be on lite loads using 180 gr Lasercast bullets. Use in my Ruger Vaquero with 3.75" barrel. Had been using 240 gr Lasercast with Titegroup but they shoot really high @ 25 yds, so lighter bullet with ?? grs of titegroup should get'em to hit lower @ 25 yds, yes? I also could use data for same loading but with Unique in the case......Opinions pls...

You didn't say what your titegroup load w/240 cast bullet ? I have seen Hodgdon's load data and it goes all the way from 4 to 10grs . I can tell you from experience that 7.0 should be considered max . You might try using 44 special load data for 180 gr bullet + 1/2 gr to a grain more of powder ,depending on the powder for light target loads loaded in 44 magnum cases. Regards, Paul

A significantly lower POI will come from significantly increased velocity which will be easier to obtain with a significantly lighter bullet.

So, a "light" 180 grain load may not gain much. To see what can be obtained, peruse the data and load the snappiest 180 grain load you dare. You may not like it, but at least you will gain the most insight into just how much you can possibly lower the POI with the ammo. If that's not satisfactory, your only other option is a higher front blade.

My Vaquero has been customized with the addition of a Freedom Arms dovetailed post which is drift-adjustable for windage. This pic is shortly after filing it to the proper height for the POI I wanted; afterwards, I adjusted the windage.

I would recommend staying with the 240 gr lasercast, with 6 to 7 gr unique should make a pleasant shooting accurate load.

6 grains of bullseye works for me with all of my cast bullets from 180-250 grains.

I second staying with the 240 gr cast bullet and just adjust your powder amount . 5.0 grs of Titegroup with that bullet will be about like shooting a 45 acp w/230 gr bullet . Elmer Keith's " gallery load " (target load) was 5.0 grs of Bullseye powder using his 245 gr swc . IIRC , it shot at about 845 fps , or there abouts . Since you already have Titegroup powder , just use it . It will work fine . Good Luck , Paul
