HARD CAST .357 Loads

I don't buy commercial cast bullets but would guess it's much easier to find a hard cast bullet than a soft one.

I would suggest looking at HiTek coated bullets like the ones from Bayou Bullets. They have a 158 SWC in .357 as does DG bullets. I have moved away from non-coated lead in favor of the HiTek coated bullets as they shoot much cleaner. Our IPDA group range has banned conventional lead bullets so you either have to shoot jacketed or coated bullets.

If you want to stick with conventional non-coated lead, I would try Rim Rock Bullets.

Don’t know of factory 158 gr hard cast. But both Buffalo Bore and Underwood have 38 Spl +P 158 gr SWC hard cast loadings which are for all practical purposes velocity wise comparable to Rem/Fed/Win 158 gr JSP factory loadings.

This right here. I chronographed Winchester 158 Gr. JHP 357 Mag ammo through my 6" 686. They made about 1250 FPS, IIRC. The Underwood 38 Spl 158 Gr hard cast load is producing the same velocity, also probably from a 6" barrel. This load may fill your need.
