Default Anyone shot the new CCI Stangers in your 22's? Results and reviews?

I bought some Stangers because they were the only thing available that wasn't standard velocity after hitting several stores. They are advertised as having the same velocity as the stingers. Have any of you shot any? Hope to use a few of them to help break in a new Victory.

I have some, have not yet shot any.
They appear to be Stingers in a 100 Round Box.
I’ve had good results with Stingers.

I guess I'm way out of the loop because I have not heard of them. Sorry I can't help with this one.

I just did a search, they are actually the Stingers but a special edition. There is a good article on Firearms News about them. Here is the link: CCI 'Stangers' Special Edition 22 LR Ammo - First Look - Firearms News

If you already have Stingers there is no reason to spend more money. In the article I linked to above they state Stangers were renamed Stingers in honor of the pronunciations of Stingers by the YouTube expert shooter Plinkster.

I have Stingers in my 10rd Ruger SR22 pocket carry gun.
Every round I have fired at the local indoor range fed, chambered, fired and extracted without malfunction.
The were purchased at Acadamy well before the pandemic along with a lot of 40gr CCI mini mags and CCI Tactical.

Have shot velocitors in my SR22 and carry them in it when I carry it. Never thought about stingers as I thought the longer case might not function in it. I have plenty so will try.

Thanks.

Stangers are Stingers! Some self-proclaimed YouGoob.22 expert called them "Stanger" and the name stuck. Not recommended to be fired in some rimfire guns. Read your owner's manual. I'm thinking anything with a match chamber.

I'm fairly sure the Stingers and Velocitor ammo have the same slightly longer case length. The only difference I see is the bullet weight. (32gr and 40gr)

IMO the 40gr bullets would be more effective than the 32gr bullet. 1435 fps for the 40gr bullet is really no loss compared to 1640 fps for a 32gr bullet. (from a rifle barrel of course) I could be wrong but that's my thoughts on this.

Exclamation

I personally have never had any difficulties with Stingers (vis-a-vis case length) in any of my 22lr firearms. This includes a bolt action, revolvers, a Mk II, a pump action Winchester, a Bobcat, M&P 15-22 and the various 10/22s...

Certainly have read of other guns experiencing problems (typically related to reliable ejection in some semi-automatics), but I test my 22lr ammo (especially any NEW additions) in all my 22s.... Eventually?

Cheers!

P.S. This thread reminds me I need to get that Federal Punch out to the range: oh boy!

Some information i didnt include in previous post. M&P 15-22 performance center models cannot shoot stingers (in the manual). When I got my Ruger SR22 i contacted them about shooting CCI Velocitors in it. The response was it was ok but said not to "make regular diet of them". I would assume that would include other "hyper" velocity 22lr ammo like stingers. I have found that at 50 yards from a rifle the high velocity mini-mag 40 grain round nose are more accurate than the stingers (my personal experience). I think I read somewhere that by 50 yards the hypervelocity ammo loses accuracy as it slows and transitions to subsonic velocity.

22 ammo experts may want to comment. Thanks!

Update: What a disaster those things turned out to be, at least in my granddaughter's new Victory 22. Stupid me didn't do enough research to know that the stangers have a little longer case length than standard 22LR. Yesterday, we took her brand new gun out yesterday to break it in and to try it out. Numerous failures to eject, jams, failures to extract, and stovepipes, and failure to go into battery. We packed it in and came home after just a few rounds since I stupidly didn't bring any standard velocity or length ammo. If I'd have known that I never would have bought that expensive ammo. I'm just hoping it's the ammo and not the new Victory. I'll try it again early next week with some Federal Auto Match and Golden Bullets to see if it's the ammo and not the gun. If it's no better, back to S&W it goes. The worst part of this whole trip to the range was the disappointment on my granddaughter's face. Her first gun and this is what happens. I feel like a complete idiot for not researching farther. Rant over...

I don't want to pop anyones bubbles but I just bought a box of those two
months ago and got to fire the last week in my win pump and marlin auto.

I usually get 1" or less at 25 yards with my .22 ammo in both of these rifles that have a scope.

With a sand bag and a target at 25 yards this new ammo gave me................

1.36" groups and I will not even tell you what the groups were at 100 yards.

Big difference from my old ammo....................

Update to my update: I took the Victory to the range today and put 50 rounds of Federal Auto Match through it. It performed like it should with not one hiccup. That is one accurate little .22. I called my granddaughter and gave her the good news. It looks like it may be a range day tomorrow with her finally getting to shoot her new pistol without the aforementioned problems. Can't wait to see the look on her face as she hits some 10 rings. *big ole smile*

I have not played with the Stangers, but have done a bunch of shooting/testing with Stingers. I found that they will not group better or anywhere near as good as standard velocity 22lr. I do a lot of sage rat shooting from multiple 10-22's. They completely change the point of impact when shot in the same barrel and scope combination as standard stuff---as much as 2" higher depending on the distance. But there is no comparison in the devastation the Stingers do on soft tissue (think body shot on a sage rat). If you want to fill the dinner pot with squirrels you probably want to stick with standard velocity stuff so you can take head shots. If you don't care about "meat loss" and just want to get rid of the pests, Stingers/Stangers are a good choice. Pretty much a hit anywhere and they won't be crawling home.
For those not familiar with sage rats, do a search on you-tube for Oregon Sage Rat Shooting.
