38 special HST discontinued

I won't go into the politics but back when this started during the administration who came to power in 2009 the government was purchasing 10 year supplies of all the ammo all agencies use. They were even buying massive amounts of .357 Magnum for an agency I can't remember right now. That made the shortage much worse and it's been downhill from there on.

In the meantime pick up a box of Speer GDHP ammo to hold you over. I'm a huge fan of those Speer rounds. I've been carrying their Short Barrel 135gr +P load for many years in my M442.

Who knows, you might just like them and switch.

I have used the Speer plus P in my M442 and the Magnum version in my M60. I have also reloaded, using the Speer 135gr SB bullet. The ammo is the most accurate I have used. I switched to the HST micro because it gave a little better penetration than the Speer, on the Lucky Gunner tests. Also seemed to have less recoil than the Speer. I may switch back if the HST is history.

I was blessed to find a couple of 50 round boxes of the GDHP short barrel load in between droughts. Also a couple boxes of the FBI load. For practice I use my reloads. At my current rate of shooting I have a couple year's worth of SP primers left. Either the price will moderate a bit in the meantime or I'll bite the bullet (pun), pay the inflated price and still beat the cost of factory loads. I tried a box of the HSTs and think I still have part of it. Not something that would replace the other 2 loads for me in my guns (642 and 38).

still have ammo (.38sp) stashed away from the clinton scare. If memory serves me about 5-6 green ammo cans filled with boxes of .38 and the same amount of .357 and 45 acp Thanks to all of the posters who motivated me to stock up over the years,
