Default 9 Luger vs 9 IMI

HI,
Have any of you ever tried the 9x21 (9 IMI) caliber? In Italy there are many guns both in 9 Luger and 9 IMI. Some say the 9x21 is better because the OAL is the same as the 9x19 but the case is longer and the bullet can be crimped better. Some say it performs better...
But if you look at the SASMI or C.I.P tables the pressures are the same. What do you think?

Welcome to the Forum

9MM Luger (aka 9MM Parabellum) have the exact same ballistics as 9x21

9x21 was created for those countries that forbid their citizens from owning firearms chambered in military cartridges

Unless a 9x19 barrel is "punched out" with a longer chamber, a 9x21 round should not fit to fire. The 9x21 has had only limited acceptance in the US. As mentioned, its best use is perhaps in the many countries around the world that prohibit civilians owning firearms chambered in military calibers. The 9x19, pushed to USPSA Major load factor, is the round of choice for Open in the US. Formerly the 9X23, Super 38 and other niche cartridges were the USPSA preferred Open pistol chambering.
