Wyoming CCW
I recently read where Wyoming no longer requires a permit to carry a concealed firearm. Is this true? Also are they still going to have a conceal permit? I agree that everyone should be allowed to carry if they want but I do think everyone that carries should go through some sort of safety class. Here in Kentucky we have to take a class, go to the range and then clean our firearms. Just makes since to me. I know everyone thinks differently but that's my opinion.

I guess you'd really freak out in Alaska, where they have had unlicensed carry for awhile and most people have a gun with them.
I'll avoid the obvious comment about the difference in attitude of liberal Lexington and its suburb, Nicholasville, and the attitude of the majority of KY (I'm from W KY and still own property there).
I've sat through several state CHL courses, including KY, and taught UT and OK CHL classes. Based on the statistics, and my personal experience, the actual gun and shooting portion of the course is worse than useless, it's a distraction from learning the applicable laws, and where to find them. People struggle through the shooting part, and consider themselves "trained" when obviously they are not.
As an NRA instructor, I'm a huge advocate of training, REAL TRAINING, but not dictated by the state.
If I had my way, the state would provide a course that covered the laws on ownership, transportation, and carrying of guns, and give them a certificate that says "You have attended a class on the laws of firearms and force and are legally entitled to apply for a CHL. This course did NOT train you how to use a gun, and you should obtain training to the level you desire."
It should be noted that open carry of firearms in KY is protected by the state constitution, and NO license or training is mandated.

From my reading of the Wyoming law, it only applies to state residents, and only if they have lived there at least six months.

Wyoming is now allowing concealed carry without a permit, effective July 1. The law only applies to residents and concealed carry in the usual places such as churches, bars, govt. buildings, etc. is still prohibited. We will still have a permit system for those who want to bypass the NIC check to buy a gun or who want reciprocity in other states. Open carry without a permit has been legal for years and the law does not effect that. Most people have a gun in their car, if not on their person, anyway so the law is really just recognizing what has been a practical fact for a long time.

Oh yway! What are you going to do turn everyone into lawyers? How long does that take...about 8-10yrs. I think. Oh and you forgot Vermont. They also allow carry without permit. We really don't need a permit anyway since we technically have the right to carry. Maybe just a safety course and your good to go sounds good to me.
