Default IWB holsters for a lefty

I have a left-handed remora IWB holster that I've been getting used to but having never worked with a hip/behind the hip-mounted rig, I'd like to see what pro's and con's y'all have about the following:
  • Crossbreed Super Tuck
  • King Tuck
  • Minotaur MTAC

Thanks all!!

Im a lefty and use the King tuck for my Glock 19 and a Crossbreed for my S&W 5946.

Both are good quality made holsters. The Galco is a bit thicker and makes some jeans a bit tighter. Also I wear and undershirt and the Galco leather is smoother/slicker then the Crossbreed and that makes it slide down a bit more and a bit quicker then the Crossbreed

Crossbreed is so comfortable sometimes I forget I even have it on.I'm 6ft.6in.400lbs.I'm right hand and I like that you can adjust the clips.

Another one to think about is Old Faithful Holsters. I have their tuckable IWB and love it, very similar to a Crossbreed but cheaper if you purchase the kit and put it together yourself. Let's you adjust the clips and choose the tension of the holster. Very comfortable and great guarantee/warranty. At least take a look, I'm very happy with mine.

Arik, oversize, and kisportolt..Thanks all for the feedback!

One thing I didn't mention is that my current "favorite" is my S&W .40 M&P.

Arik, how's the draw time for the Galco vs. the Crossbreed? noticeable? Any "be careful about the"s ?

Kisportolt, I'm heading over to Old Faithful Holsters right now

Thanks again all!

Draw time is quicker with the Galco but only by a nano second. This is because i bought the Crossbreed used and its leather goes as high as the grips where the Galco is cut so that the grips would be touching your skin.

Crossbreed is better if you dont wear an under shirt. The grips would not rub your skin but it makes it just a tad bit harder to draw. Basically that leather is close to the gun and doesn't move, making it harder to get your thumb around the inside of the grip. What i do is put my thumb over the rear sights while i draw. As the gun clears the holster i move my thumb over to its proper spot on the grip.

Time is really not any different just thump placement. What i really need to do is just cut that patch of leather off. And you can request Crossbreed to do that when they make it

Hope that helps, and makes sense! If not lemme know and i can post pics of what im talking about

You're welcome! Hope you find one that works for you. With Arik mentioning that he bought his Crossbreed used, it reminded me that there is also a Crossbreed "seconds" website where they sell holsters that have been returned for cheaper. Choices for lefties are slim, but it's worth checking out. Just google "crossbreed seconds" and it shows up. Kind of annoying that you have to mail them cash, but it may be worth it if you find what you want.

Just to learn, I tried making my own holster.

I found a place online that sells horse hide, they actually give you a couple of free kydex samples when you order from them. Kydex is very inexpensive.

They had clips, screws, rivets, everything anyone would want to use.

I had such good luck making my first holster I ordered more and made four more. It's as simple as cutting the horse hide with a tin snips or heavy shear, heating the kydex in an oven or using a heat gun, press the kydex over your gun, trim the kydex then to fit your leather, drill some holes and insert the little screws (I use rivets now).

For about $8 you can make a holster. The clips are the most expensive parts! If you are having a hard time finding a holster you like, why not give making your own a try?

You really can make it just the way you like! And if you want to change the leather for more coverage, more cant, wider clip spacing, just cut a new piece. Horse hide costs about $15 for enough to make 6 to 8 holsters.

To tighten the retention warm the Kydex and mold it closer to the gun. To loosen it, warm it and it relaxes a bit. I put a slight outward bend at the top to facilitate reholstering. You can cover more of the gun or less, cover the barrel or not. Raise it, lower it, round bottom or cut out, we're only talking $2 and 2 minutes to start all over.

What I have ended up with now is holsters that perfectly fit ME like a glove, and isn't that what we really want?

If you get a Crossbreed Supertuck, I highly recommend you add the horsehide leather option. I've had mine for going on 3 yrs, wear it almost daily and it has held up better than any other IWB holster I've owned. You can't get a more comfortable carry holster.

Great Tips Lost-lake!! I'll definitely keep that in mind.

BTW, where do you order your horse-hide from?

Can you recommend any resellers?
