Default Best lanyard for "necklace carry?"

I find that my 43C is light enough that I can carry it around my neck. At present I carry it in a horizontal position which is satisfactory during these winter months extra clothing prevents the gun from printing. I don't think I'll be able to get away with this during the summer, but vertical carry should be easier to conceal. I presume the pin through the bottom of the grip frame is for a lanyard, but all lanyards I see are designed for retention. I'm looking for a break away type lanyard, wherein a simple tug will separate the gun from my neck. I can't find anything. I can't believe I'm the first person to think of this, so something must be out there that performs this function. Can somebody point me in the right direction?

You might try some beaded dog tag chain. I don't like the
thought of someone being able to throttle me with my own
stuff. I'm sure somebody else will jump in with a better
solution, and I'm looking forward to it. TACC1

Dave ... I second the dog tag chain. A srong yank will usually pop the beads from the clasp immediately. The only other thing I can think of is a DIY lanyard made of shoe/boot lace that you tie in a form of slip knot, one that will release with a firm pull down and out. Good luck!

Cat collars have break away releases - you could probably rig something up with one of those.

Cops use beaded chain for their badges because they will break away if choked with them.

Try the magnetic catch fly fisherman use for their landing nets. One quick tug and it seperates. Put the ends close together again, and they reattach.

The easiest and most available is the beaded chain....most of the break away devices I have seen in my estimation are not strong enough or subject to weakening with use. Anything you put around your neck should be able to break at any point along its length. I don't like the break away located at a single point.

I was at one time very much interested in the neck knife concept as I don't like to carry much of anything in my pockets. The neck knife was great until I was in a horizontal position. I never could quickly acquire it. I decided to go back to my Vic Classic on my key ring.

Personally I carry my 351PD or 642 using a hip grip...If someone has me on the ground I won't have to guess where the gun is at.

When I was in my teens/20's I used to carry my room key on a leather boot lace around my neck. I never realized the danger in that.

Truthfully you're probably better with a kydex holster on a beaded chain. I carry my p32 like this while in basketball shorts or sweats. I know a few mfgs make them.

The main goal is to have something while long distance running. One of the pitfalls of the beaded chain is once the chain breaks, there's no way to re-secure the handgun. Or at least there's no way to do it quickly. Still worth considering though, and the chain does fit the slot in the gripframe.

The magnet idea sounds like it has potential. I will have to investigate that.

A kydex holder is what I am using now and it works very well for horizontal carry but I can't think of a way to use kydex for vertical carry with the muzzle pointing down.

Gotta go grocery shopping later today so I'll check out the cat collar too.

I would look at trade show name tag lanyards. I have some in round nylon cord or some are flat cloth. All have plastic disconnects for anti strangle. Some even have the right clip with swivel but I would also use a small round split ring on the revolver.

You might want to try office supply companies..... They make these straps that go around the neck with a pull tab that releases when pulled on. The office personel use them for keys, fobs and ID card holders.
I do not know the pull strenght on them but you could try em out at the store........
Just thinking out loud....
