Inexpensive solution to home storage
Picked this up online from Walmart $96.00, does what I need it to do. Not fireproof though, I feel better now that the grandson is learning to walk. He is not getting to the firearms now

Can you open it when the electronic lock craps out, because it will eventually, most likely when you need to get access in a hurry.

Yes, beside the number pad is a removable plate that gives key access. Comes with 2 keys, or you may enter a 3-8 digit
key code to open. batteries included

That is a VERY wise precaution. Sure I'm worried about people taking my guns, but a much more likely scenario (and uselessly tragic one at that) is if my teenage boy and his ingenious pals got into my guns.

Nice safe, does it mount flush in the wall?

Yes, it mounts between the studs in the wall. You need to cut out the drywall, slide it in and screw it to the the studs from the inside. Not real deep though.

I also have this safe. It works great. It has provisions to wall mount as well as floor mount... or both if you want to get fancy.

I doubt that safe would keep a teenager with internet access out if they wanted in

Yes, made in China like most thing found at Wall Mart. As far as a teen getting in: it would take considerable effort, perhaps a sledge hammer and heavy duty crow bar.I was impressed for the price.
No room to get much of anything heavy enough to pry the door open.
The safe is not made of thin sheet metal. Solid steel, not sure of the gauge of steel, pry resistant door, and totally concealed hinges.
You can see the thickness of the steel along the horizontal edge below the 2nd Hornady box.
I did not say this was the ultimate safe, just an inexpensive solution for my situation.

You and I think alike there, Poodle. Never underestimate a determined teenager. They can figure there way into anything. I've got a combination lock with a steel plate behind the knob that I hope is up to the task. The other alternative was to spend $40/month renting a closet sized storage space.

If your happy with it, I'm happy for you. Not everyone needs or can afford a top of the line safe, and sometimes one needs to adapt to their needs/abilities.
If all I worried about was keeping the little ones out of my guns, this looks like a good enough choice.
My kids are older and have a healthy respect for firearms. I'm more concerned about theft. Even the one you chose will at least discourage theft, if not strongly discourage it.

So how many $100 bills ya keeping in there? Looks like a few...if those teens weren't interested in your guns...they sure as heck would love the money you just showed the world.
OPSEC is a good thing. Showing an empty safe isn't a bad thing.
Enjoy - good idea. Ya made the effort, more than most will do.

No teens in the house to worry about, but theft is a concern always. Like I said not Fort Knox, but an inexpensive solution to secure valuables, many folks don't even attempt this level of security.
And yes that is a top break.

Without the ammo I can get six firearms in, may be more. but I only own four. It is only about 3 inches deep, a little less than the thickness of a 2X4.

Install some hooks you could probably get 2 or 3 per shelf if your were creative..... I always like to puzzle out how many things you can get into a space by clever positioning

Hopefully that's not a waterproof/fireproof safe because most manufacturers of those say don't store firearms inside because
they are VERY humid.

YEP, I've got the smaller version which fits and bolts to the bottom draw of my dresser. Currently has a model 36, extra ammo pouch, sig 380 with extra mag, and a Ruger Sr-22 with two magazines. I check and change the batteries every two years. And it does also have the key override. All the sons are long gone, but grandson is getting older and likes to explore. If someone steals the whole draw, they'll get my underwear too..

When you safely secure your firearms, you do your family a great service and all law abiding gun owners as well. I cringe everytime I read a story about an accidental shooting from guns left accessible. Thanks.

I think it depends on the manufacturer. I've stored several of my handguns in a Sentry fire safe similar to the OP's for years with no problems at all. I keep a hygrometer in the safe and the humidity always reads less than 30% with a silica desiccant pack inside. Then again, my safe has a plastic lining which may provide better protection from the outside elements and it also has a pretty good seal when the door is closed.

I believe part of the purpose of that flush wall mounted safe is that you can hang a picture or a mirror in front of it and then no one who isn't specifically looking for it would even know it was there. There can be some security through obscurity.
Regardless of the ultimate strength of the device - unless you have the keys with you or locked up somewhere else there is always a chance that the "friends" might find the key(s).
There are also fairly inexpensive lock picks for most types of locks.
I guess the best advice is to know your needs and the limitations of your choices and deal with those accordingly.
My bro-in-law has a couple of safes that are bolted to concrete on the second floor - the installers requested that if he ever moves to just leave em because that would be far less expensive that trying to remove them - and though his home was burglarized (burgled? burglared?) they apparently did not even attempt to touch the safes - likely did not come looking to do any safe cracking or recognized that they didn't have the time, or tools, or skill to crack em.

The most important thing you can do with this type of safe is be very strategic as to where you install it. Because the safe itself is not very burglar proof or strong, where you install it becomes so much more important. Also I would not put anything too valuable inside as it is also not fireproof.
I would personally suggest a location where a side view is not easily seen, and would place a "boring" type of picture frame securely in front of it as to NOT attract much attention from strangers. DO NOT use a wire to hang the picture as it can tilt left or right if bumped into. Use a "D" ring type of hangar with picture hooks in the wall. This way if someone inadvertently bumps it, the picture frame will NOT move.
