hello, do any of you wear your iwb holster on the outside of your pants?
I have a iwb leather holster for my shield and am wanting to get owb for it. the problem I have is that the owb holsters don't seem to hold gun as tight to the body as iwb holsters.
so I was wondering if anybody conceal carries this way?

No to question 1.

I don't know what 'anybody' does, in answer to your second question.

If you use good leather, I think it should be used as designed.

There is a difference!

Just my opinion, of course.

Not sure if most IWB holsters could even be worn OWB.

If your OWB holster is loose, it's probably cheap. If a good holster is not tight enough for you to feel that the gun is secure, get one with a retention device like a thumb break strap.

tony harp from brigade gun leather gave me the idea. he said he has heard of some of his customers wearing that way.
it would have to be a versa max 2 style holster. thread your belt thru the loops as normal with the holster on outside of your jeans rather then the inside. might look goofy but who would see?

There are reversible holsters but generally you cannot wear a IWB holster on the outside. If you did it would be backwards since you have to turn the holster inward to clip onto the belt. On some you can reverse the clips But it would be no different than the owb holster

some people wear the IWB between the pants and belt, making it and OWB holster, I don't, I have designated OWB when want to carry OWB.

yes, that's what im talking about, guess I should of explained it a different way

Just because you can do something doesn't make it a good idea. Yes, you can wear some IWB holsters as you describe, but they aren't designed for it.

Holsters are like optics. Many try to get away with cheap ones. Many are happy compromising, but most find that it's worth it to spend the extra to get a really good one. Sure, it will work, but I don't think you'll be happy in the long run.

I suggested this to AlienGear but they indicated the leather is too flexible to support heavier guns. But I think it fits your idea.

I had the same problem with the gun grip sticking out but a Pancake holster will fix the problem I got this on the bottom right - Gould Gold Line $48.00:

I'm trying to imagine what it would feel/look and function like if I tried to turn my AG IWB into an OWB holster. I suppose the clips could be reversed and attached over my belt and pants but how would the gun not just hang there and pull away from my body? Like was said above, just another OWB holster, and not nearly as effective at concealing as when worn as intended by the designer.

You can wear a LH IWB outside on the right side, but why? Just get a OWB holster.

The mounting/reinforcement is on opposite sides of LH and RH plastic/injected molded holsters.

I thought about a OWB LH Fobus shell for a IWB being worn on the right side thinking I could add my own clips and get a tighter fitting holster. The standard designs just don't sit close enough for me. Haven't abandoned the idea yet, just on hold...
