Anyone Carry a 629 Performance Center 2.6" .44 Mag?
Does anyone carry a Model 629 Performance Center 2.6" .44 Mag? If so what is your carry ammo and why? Holster? How do you like it and have you had any additional work done to it?
I have carried a Ruger Redhawk 5.5" and Super Redhawk 7.5" from the time they came out to just recently.

Why not try an Alaskan in 44 Magnum? Since you like Ruger it would be a good companion to the other two.

Are we talking urban EDC? I'd take the 2.5 inch Alaskan in .454.

I sold my Rugers to purchase an Apex Tactical Specialties 625-8 .45 ACP with the "full works" done to it. Now I am considering what .44 caliber to get but for more "social occasions" as I no longer travel around in grizzly country as I used to. The predators now travel more in packs on two legs and I believe in carrying two guns and plan to relocate to Arizona in the not to distant future from the People's Socialist Republic of California and I plan on getting a CCW again.
Yes, I am planning EDC.
I have tried both the S&W Performance Center 629 2.6" and the Ruger Super Redhawk 2.5". Without a lot more gunsmithing on the action and trigger the S&W Performance Center 629 2.6" fits my needs better and if I ever need the bear defense I can load it with Randy Garrett 310 gr. Hammerheads. No grizzlies in Arizona so I got rid of my Randy Garrett 330 gr. Hammerheads that only fit my Ruger handguns.

I would probably carry .44 Special +P loads in the S&W Performance Center 629 2.6" anyway at about 1000fps like the Underwood .44 Special 200 Grain Hard Cast Wadcutter or Underwood .44 Special 200gr. Speer Bonded Jacketed Hollow Point at 975 fps.

Not that particular gun, but I have qualified with and carried a 3 inch 629-3 and a 629-6 with a 2.5 inch barrel and I carried 200 grain Speer Gold Dot Hollow Points. They are accurate and have little recoil.

I am looking at Underwood's version of that loading. Thanks for the input!
