mes, but products change so I thought I’d ask the question. For those of you carrying 8 shot third generation handguns in the waistband, can I get some real world experience,/ likes and dislikes. I’m carrying in the south were it’s warm. I’ve got to be in Atlanta for most of the summer. Nuff said.
Thanks

Its becoming increasingly harder to find good quality holsters for the older S&W 3rd Gen handguns.

If you want a good leather Inside the Waistband holster, I highly recommend you contact Gordon at Bang Bang Gunleather at [email protected]. He can probably hook you up with a holster to your liking.

He just made me a "Summer Special" for my S&W 6946 and its unbelievably the most comfortable holster that I have ever owned, especially when driving a vehicle. He builds a quality holster at a very affordable price. You won't be disappointed.

You also need a good gun belt. The best holsters made won't work to their full potential without a good gun belt to support it.

These days, holsters designed specifically for 3rd gen S&W's, especially the compact versions, are getting harder to find. I sometimes have to use holsters designed for the Glock 19 for my 6906 and 6946.

Milt Sparks, but it'll take about six months to get, currently.

Any hard-leather IWB made for the 3900 series, 6900 series, Glock 27 or Glock 19. I have one made by Gould & Goodrich that I bought probably 20 years ago. It is marked for a Glock 27. It is still in great shape and holds the 3913, Shield 9, and even the Walther PPS with a little effort (I'd need to stretch it a little for regular use with the PPS, not willing to do that just yet.) I know Don Hume makes a version and if I'm not mistaken, it's sold by the Don Hume Co. on Ebay. They have an outlet store on there and sell slightly blemished holsters for a greatly reduced price. I've purchased something like 9 or 10, and in every case I can't find the blemish. I'm actually waiting for a 3913 crossdraw with thumb break from them. I'll see about posting photos when it arrives.

Lobo Gunleather and R. Grizzle Leather both make IWB offerings for 3914.

Both are custom shops so not sure of wait time.

I can second the recommendation. Been using his holsters for about 5-6 years now.

IWB holsters require about a 6 or 7 day commitment ..... to get use to the concept. Don't quit after one or two days. I've been using IWB Summer Specials since the mid-80s for everything from a Walther PPK to Sig 220/245 and Beretta Compact/Centurions'.... and 3" K frames.

Someone here recommended Cleveland Kydex for IWB, I got one for my 6906 and I've been pretty pleased with it so far and they also have an option for a 3913. It is kydex though which I'm sure some here would find sacrilegious.

Another vote for BANG BANG Leather. I have four of his holsters. Quality made by a fine gentleman.

I am very satisfied and will be buying more of their products. Regards 18DAI

BANG BANG Leather. I have an OWB for a 4013 and have an IWB for a 3914 on order.
Gordon is a gentleman and is excellent to work with for his holsters.

High Noon holsters offers a lot of models for most 3rd gen Smiths. I have been happy with my purchases.

Kramer #2 or #3 IWB.....I also have a Lobogunleahter holster that Ray made years ago. Cannot go wrong with either of those.

Many people also use a Sig P239 holster....almost like it was made for your 3914.

My choice for your 3914 is the Don Hume H715-M WCS #28-1. You can get it in a round or square trigger guard. It works with my LS and NL models plus my 3953 (EDC) and 6900 series.

I know hot and humid living in coastal North Carolina and this holster is the best I've ever owned. I wear my holster between a tucked long sleeveless t-shirt and an untucked t-shirt most of the time.

The price is right at less than $50 and I've worn mine for years without a problem. I also have this model holster for my 4053.

The single clip is sturdy and allows me to move the position around my belt to suit my needs at the moment.

MILT SPARKS SUMMER SPECIAL!

Milt Sparks, but it'll take about six months to get, currently.

^^^ THIS ^^^

I don't even think about anything else, the Milt Sparks Summer Special is the best of the best. BUT it's a 6 month wait.

I bought a DeSantis IWB to carry my G17 for a few months while I awaited the Milt Sparks to arrive. Once it arrived the DeSantis has been in a box ever since.

Milt Sparks Summer Special is perfectly fitted, it HOLDS ITS SHAPE when you unholster and you can easily re-holster without it collapsing on itself. It fits snug against my side at all times and is a beautiful piece of work.

The DeSantis? It's too thin and collapses when I draw, so to reholster it requires some fidgeting.
