I live in FL so I find myself a lot of the time wearing gym shorts because I am very active. Right now I'm looking at the DeSantis superfly as a pocket carry option for the 340PD. I'm also wondering if I should consider any IWB holster options or does wearing gym shorts limit my IWB options? I just want to know what and how people carry when they wear loose clothing like gym or running shorts?

There are elastic waistband holsters that might work for you. Even something as lightweight as a 340PD will tug at your gym shorts so that eventually you’ll have to adjust them, particularly if you move around vigorously, unless you have them tied tightly, which is uncomfortable. I think undershirts are also available that have a pocket for small handguns. Maybe another possible solution? I’d be interested to know what you finally decide works well for you.

Welcome! To me, if you have shorts with fairly thick material and large pockets (like cargo shorts) a pocket holster will probably work, but if they are thin a pocket gun and holster will flop around quite a bit with activity and look pretty obvious.

If you always wear a shirt, a belly band type holster may also work. Good luck in your decision.

I would recommend a Harry's Holsters "Icon"...

...and if the shorts are too flimsy to support the combination, a Mastermind Tactics "Specialist Covert" belt.

The belt can be worn under the shorts or over, depending on preference, and is made so as not to slip around, and is very low profile. It works very well.

I’d advise against the T-Shirt w/a pocket for the gun. Once you wear the shirt getting to the gun is slow & awkward, making it dangerous. Also, some of them use a heavy material that could prove uncomfortable in warmer weather.

I kick around all summer in polyester golf shorts from Sam's or Costco with deep slash pockets, and carry a P365. I have a 340PD but the Sig carries fine in the front pocket. I like the ZeroXposure and Denali brands. They wear well and the GF likes them. They are nice enough to wear to dinner.
When I bike I wear the Denali belted polyester cargo pants. I can put my wallet, keys and phone in the front cargo pockets. The Sig can carry in the slash pocket, but I carry in a fanny pack for better access. They have rear pockets with velcro-secured flaps but I don't use them

Recommend a fanny pack if you are wearing light weight gym shorts and tshirt in hot muggy FL climate. Fanny pack will also accommodate essentials like keys phone wallet spare mag.

In pocket, I use a sticky holster for my 340pd. Iwb with gym shorts I use a remora holster using an ulticlip.

When you say "gym shorts", I think of only an elastic waistband or drawstring to hold them up. I use this when I need to conceal if dressed that way, also works with swim trunks, but I wouldn't recommend jumping in the water with the CC :D

It's from Thunderwear, has a strong Velcro strap that wraps around the waist, and three pockets. Allows you to carry right or left-handed, using the other small pouch for an extra magazine if you have a semiauto. The large pouch is behind the two small ones, and works well for a thin wallet, ID, CC permit, cash, etc. It's completely hidden under anything like gym pants or swim trunks. Shown in the picture is a LC9, but my M66 snubby fits, too.

Gym Shorts Carry

Yeah, but it SCREAMS CCW.

tlawler agree that unless you get very creative a fanny pack is going to scream CCW. I'v spent enough time in FL to know the weather and clothing that is appropriate to wear. Gym/running shorts with a pocket don't leave a lot of options other than maybe a 22 or 25 mouse gun. What works for me is pocket carry an airweight J frame shrouded hammer in a Safariland pocket holster with carpenter style denim belted shorts. Neither the most fashionable or lightest shorts but fine for kicking around the yard or doing an errand. With a tshirt or short sleeve shirt covering I also have the option of a stainless 380 AMT Backup in a Safariland suede iwb holster.

Option One - Clip Draw on a lightweight .22 WMR J Frame or .32 cal P32. Clipped on the waistband. Exposed trigger however.

Option Two - PHL Enigma Holster.
I bought one based on Greg Ellifritz’s summary.
I don’t have an informed opinion yet but way more refined than a ThunderWear type jock strap.

Ellifritz’s comments
“For me, the Enigma is most comfortable and concealable when I’m not wearing a belt. When I place a belt over the Enigma, it changes how the rig carries and makes it slightly less concealable. As I generally wear a belt (to hold up my pants and to carry other gear), I don’t see the Enigma becoming my primary carry method. With that said, I will most certainly be using the Enigma every time I need to dress up with a tucked in shirt and when I’m wearing workout pants or shorts. I’ll be using it a lot. It’s incredibly comfortable and the functionality is unmatched.”

I use a masterminds tactics specialist covert belt under my gym shorts and I carry my normal appendix carry holster for my JFrame

Ditto, as mentioned above in an earlier post. (I use either Dark Star Gear or Harry's Holster...I have one of each for the 642-1.)

If you're that attractive, you may want to consider two guns and possible a larger caliber!!

Golf shorts work pretty with a pocket holster.
