What could the .40 cal Shield be converted into. Could be converted into the 357Sig, an 9mm, and could it potentially be Coverted into the 30 Super Carry? And is there any potential issues from using converted calibers in a SD scenario be it CCW or home defense, ect..

What can the .40 cal Shield Plus be converted into besides 9mm? An is there any potential issue using converted calibers in a SD scenario be it CCW or home defense, ect..

Even if it can be converted (probably can) I highly doubt it would make financial sense. You would need a new barrel and multiple magazines at a minimum! You would more than likely be paying the lion's share of the cost of a new 9mm pistol to convert it. If you still like the .40 and can afford both, just buy a new 9mm and keep the 40. If you need the $$ for the new 9mm purchase you could sell your .40 S&W and use that money. To me that is the cleanest way to do the change if you are not willing or wanting to keep the .40 as a complete gun.

Because of component prices, gun smithing prices and shipping charges these days, many gun smithing tasks that made sense 50+ years ago no longer do. Your conversion should be a fairly simple one and probably require no G-smithing, however if you really are "done" with the .40 you are more than likely better off selling and then buying what you want.

.40 S&W Shield PLUS?

Where did you get that at? I'd be looking those over.

Or are you talking about a Shield in .40 S&W?

Typo, thanks, i corrected it.
Yes, a Shield in .40

You mentioned .357 SIG. I've done that. .357 SIG conversion barrel in a standard (short slide, not the 4") .40 S&W slide on a regular Shield frame. I did buy a slightly longer threaded barrel and put a compensator on the end of it. When my wife shoots it she says she can tell the difference between the .357 SIG and her 9MM but "it's not bad."

Zero issues with .357 SIG as it uses the same .40 S&W mags. and the cut in the rear of the slide is the same width.

You can buy conversion barrels to make a .40 S&W slide work with a 9MM cartridge. Just need the 9MM magazines.

I don't know about .30 SC. Might work but I don't know of anyone making conversion barrels or if the base of the cartridge case is too small to work with the extractor and ejector.

Last thing, I don't think the Shield Plus or other S&W pistol magazines meant for .30 SC will fit into a Shield frame.
