I used to work with a big city detective who carried his issue Beretta 92 in an Uncle Mike's nylon OWB holster. The PD didn't pay for holsters, so he bought the cheapest one he could find. He carried it for years until the stitching began to let go. He was sitting in my car one day, bemoaning the fact he would eventually have to get a new holster. I had a spare Safariland paddle holster for my Sig 220 in the car, so I showed it to him as an example of a holster he could buy for his Beretta.
He was a giant of a guy - 6'6", 275, solid build - the product of one of the city's toughest housing projects. He took that fat Beretta and jammed it as hard as he could into the poor Safariland holster, designed for my much slimmer Sig. It stopped with about an inch to go. He contemplated it for a second, then gave another mighty shove. He stretched the thumb break over, snapped it, stuck my ex-holster in his waistband, and said he'd buy me lunch. He was still carrying it when I left years later.
