In need of a carry holster for my model 60. I don't feel all that comfortable wearing inside the waist band holsters for some reason, I wear jeans and a tshirt most of the time. I'm considering a Simply Rugged silver dollar pancake holster. Will this holster keep the butt fairly tight to my side, or will it flop out like my Galco paddle allows? Any thoughts on similar type holster from say Lobo Gunleather? Thanks for the help. Bob.

DP, I've been carrying a J frame snubbie, 24/7 for the past five years. This is at home, away, all the time.

I mostly wear shorts and t-shirts. I have always pocket carried and have tried Uncle Mikes pocket, a no name leather pocket and finally this, the Bianchi "Pocket Change". Once I tried this a couple of years ago, I've never gone back to any of the others.

This was about $15.00. OTD. I recommend it highly.

I considered pocket carry as well, but found it impractical because I carry keys etc.. in both front pockets, wallet in back. I would prefer some form of hip holster. I didn't like the way my Galco paddle left the butt sticking out, so I wondered if a pancake style holster may be my best bet. Bob.

Not trying to steer business from Lobo or any others but will tell you my Galco 158CON WILL hold the butt close to your body. I am carrying a M60 in one right now whilst wearing shorts and an UnderArmour "t" shirt.

It's quite invisible from all angles. FYI, I carry strong side, OWB, whenever possible.

Further, though I own a paddle holster, I use it only rarely...for the same reason you cite.

Be safe.

The Galco "Concealable" that Big D recommended IS a good holster. But it has that damned FBI tilt. I hate that.

I use Ray over at Lobo Gun Leather - Home because he can build me a pancake with a straight drop vertical tilt which is more natural on the draw to me than the FBI cant that all the cookie cutter holster makers use.

At a more affordable price. ;)

The nice thing about the Simply Rugged pocket holsters is the thinness of the material. I found other pocket holsters aggravating because of the bulk they added to the profile of the revolver. Simply Rugged is certainly that, but the thin leather is what sold me and I have a couple of that guy's products. Quick service, too, considering he's in Alaska.

Landpimp, I found the Blackhawk you mentioned here local, and I picked it up to try. It does conceal nicely and is comfortable to wear so far. It definately beats a paddle holster by far. We'll see how it does for a week or so. Bob.

+1 on the Simply Rugged. I have one for my J and every other gun I carry. Rob is a great guy and makes a great holster at a good value!

I carry a 36 or a Taurus 85 in a Bainchi Shadow #7.
butt tight to my side and I never felt more comforatble with any other holster

I carry a J-frame in a Simply Rugged Silver Dollar Pancake, and like it well enough that I got another SR for my N frame 6" bbl Mdl 57.

I wear Levi's and banded bottom polo shirts and the J-frame is invisible and very comfortable.

Give them a try.

I phoned Simply Rugged and spoke with the owner. Nice to see a business owner who answers his own phone.

Anyway ~~ I have Simply Rugged holsters, just not for a J-Frame. My experience with them is excellent. Give them a call and discuss your concerns.

Have you considered a Galco pocket holster? I appologize in advance, I just skimmed most of the postings so if you said for some reason why you aren't interested in a pocket holster forgive me. I have had a horsehide pocket holster for several years and I love it. I use to carry in my pocket w/o a holster and my old lady got sick of sewing up holes in my left front pocket from where the front sight would wear through.....this pocket holster Galco makes is super comfortable, doesn't print unless you're wearing tighter fitting pants, and stays in your pocket very securely when you draw your piece. Just a suggestion to maybe look into....they're about 60 bucks if I remember correctly.

Simply Rugged Pancake

A number of guys are carring thoes holsters. My son is using one with a Bobbed RB 3" K frame, with iwb belt loops in the middle of his back. I havn't seen a hint of a print yet even with just a T shirt, and You can bet I'm looking!

I ordered a fancy one for a N frame.

Carrying in the center/small of back is a great way to get serious back problems. Getting knocked off one's feet, or slipping on ice and landing on the gun is very likely to result in serious spinal issues.

Any good pancake holster will be lightyears better than a paddle holster regarding the issue you are concerned about.

Galco made the Speedmaster pancake if you like that brand. They discontinued the model last year but there are still plenty around for sale.

I use a Silver Dollar 3 belt loop holster for my 640-1 when out in the woods. Can use crossdraw or regular.Excellent holster, excellent service!Give Rob a call.
