Just chiming in to say that the Galco Summer Special was a pleasant surprise for carrying a 4" 28-2. The gun drops right in and glides right out. It hugs the body like it should, and the holster design makes the grip all but disappear under a loose over-shirt. The design is interesting in that it places the cylinder above the waistband (so you're not trying to stuff the widest part of the gun in your pants) and yet the carry feels secure from ordinary tension.

If you like N frames for carry, try one on at your dealer's. Unlike offerings from the excellent boutique makers, these are readily available.

I agree. Have never carried an N-Frame in one, but they're about the best copy I've found of the Milt Sparks Summer Special.

You don't find a 28 IWB is too bulky?

I did, and do.

I don't find it too bulky because the cylinder stays above the belt. I had a harder time carrying a flat-sided Glock or USP in the same position, because the widest part of the slide took up waistband real estate I can't afford at 30". A Large size flannel shirt is like a tent over the grip. The summer comfort is also comfortable to drive with.

I do need a wider belt though, because the weight pulls the rig down a little, and better support would help with that.

Just bought a 4" 624 for winter carry. Here in the Northwest, it's wet for 6 months.

I carry a L frame occasionally in the Galco Summer special, as comfortable as any leather IWB except for my Sparks Executive Special or a Fist ultra thin Kydex, but then both of those are for pistols so not an apple to apple comparison.

Also for 3"

Received one for 3 inch or so, last night. Currently have a 325PD in it and the holster seems pretty comfortable. My 4" was back ordered. The one I received will also take my 3" 25, and even my 2" Worthog. I am using a 1.75" Sparks belt, and bottom 1/3 of the cylinder is under the belt. Very secure and draw is clean.

I'll wear it 'get up until get down' for a few days and report again.

I will be ordering a 3" for my L frame 396 and 696.

These holsters look like a solution to the very high price of custom IWB leather. I like my Sparks/Alessi/Null/ etc stuff, but the cost plus the wait is a bit much for this old guy pushing 80.

I use one with a 329pd (yes, I leave the house with it). I like my sparks SSII a bit better, but for the price and availability, the Galco can't be beat. It's one of my favorite carry rigs.

I wore mine to work today, and it was very comfortable. I was using an old Davis 1.75 inch belt. Switched back to a pair of shorts when I got home. Gun is still on my hip. Seems like a winner.

Years ago I stocked Jackass leather in my store. Company turned into Galco. Their stuff was always decent.

I use a Milt Sparks Summer Special 2 now. I used to be opposed to the sweat guard because I felt I couldn't get a good firing grip on the gun, but I practiced and it's not too bad now. The sweat guard keeps the sights from chewing into my side too.
