I have been packing weapons professionally for almost a half century and most of that time I have had a "tactical" shotgun around. PG only shotguns are pretty much useless for any thing but door breaching which takes place at ranges measured in inches. I accept folding stock shotguns as a necessary evil for when one must transport a shotgun in close quarters, as in a vessel, vehicle or aircraft. The folder to be unfolded ASAP upon disembarking. I have heard from a bunch of folks who brag that they can shoot accurately at 30 yards or more with a PG shotgun, to this I say something not repeatable here. A PG may be usable under a coat for ranges up to 7 feet, but is otherwise useless. Remember I am not talking about a full stocked gun that has a PG, but guns with a PG only.
You will not see any professionals using such guns, except as breaching tools, which a full stocked gun can do as well. You may see a pro with a PG only gun in a backpack position while they hand carry their usable long gun and use the PG shotgun for breaching.
Get a real stock of your preference, if you ar really recoil shy, get a Knox Stock and use low recoil ammo from Federal, the difference is not noticable in terminal effect, but will reduce felt recoil substantially.
The PG only guns look neat, as in the movies, but remember that the movies also show PG only assault rifles and submachine guns shooting accurately, which is also total BS.
Arnold, et al, do not have to worry about accuracy, but I assure that one thing is certain: "You can miss with a shotgun"! Contrary to gun shop lore, as espoused by gun shop commandos.
Please do it the right way.
