It's been cold and windy here on the Northern Neck of Virginia, not the best shooting days. The wind let up a bit yesterday, and even though it was still cold (33 degrees at 10:00 AM), I spent a pleasant couple hours at the range. Did a little .22 rifle shooting, then finished up by chasing golf balls around the berm with my Ruger .22/45, results shown below, shot from 7-10 yards...
This Ruger pistol has been a lot of fun and a great value. I bought it in 2006 to take a little pressure of my K .22 revolvers, I figured I would try to find out how many rounds it would take to wear out a Ruger .22. So far, I've shot about 25,000 rounds through it with only one serious cleaning. Most times I just wipe it down with an oily rag, keep it lubricated, run a patch down the bore every once in a while. I keep it in my range bag so it is always available whenever I go to the range.
When I have been practicing a lot with this pistol, I can hit cigarrette butts at 7 yards, but my cold hands could only produce golf ball accuracy this day. Tomorrow the weatherman says temps will rise into the 50's, so cigarrette butts, watch out!
