You know, the one I've been looking at the last month at Barrow's . . . . . . . If it is still there tomorrow, if it made it through the rush of Christmas shoppers (probably 100 in the store when I went in for five gallons of hydraulic oil last Monday. I didn't even try to go to the gun department.) . . . . . if it is still there, I guess it was just meant for me to buy it.

Of course if it is gone, there is always the Rossi Model 92 clone . . . .;)

I sure hope it's there for you! I have an Marlin 1894S in 44 Mag that is great. Good luck tomorrow!!

I have the Marlin, a couple of Ruger Blackhawks, and I recently picked up a Winchester 94, all in .357. Sometimes I just pack a couple of them up for my own personal cowboy day at the range. They're a lot of fun. Hope its still there when you get back.

Taffin called the .357 levergun the most versatile long arm available - and I can't argue. Enjoy whichever one you pick up.

The first gun I ever bought was a Marlin 1894C in .357 Magnum. I saw it on the gun show table and asked to see it. The seller wanted $150 and I felt that was a good deal in 1985. I bought a bore light from another table and went back to check out the Marlin again. The bore was perfect so I bought it. Boy I put rounds down it's barrel over the years. My dad cut the barrel to 16" for me and recrowned the muzzle with hand files. I put a Williams receiver sight on it and refinished the wood to a satin oil finish with the white butt spacer removed.

Yep, I still have it too. My first of many Marlins.

You best get your hands on the one you saw. I hope it's there for you tomorrow!

I got my pre-cross bolt safety model in 1998, an excellent find. Only caveat is that they do not feed wadcutters that well, they must be single loaded. I am not sure if Marlin was switched to Ballard Rifling on the newer ones, the CAS shooters found that worked better with lead bullets, Happy Shooting!

Man, those are some harsh words, amigo. ;) My Navy Arms Rossi 92 is a lovely gun, and it shoots like a dream.

I've been after my little brother to get one of these (I just gave him a customized 65-5), and I think he'd be happy with the Winchester, Marlin or Rossi. :)

Saw one at the gunshow weekend before Xmas. Older Marlin , pre- cross bolt safety , in excellent condition , for $515.

It's tomorrow! Was it there? ;)

I haven't been by the store yet. I guess I am putting it off. I had to buy a set of tires yesterday, and have to pay taxes and buy tags this week. I doubt whether I can walk out of the store without it.:D I guess I need to get my priorities straight and just get it.

Man, y'all are killing me with the pictures!

My advice, forget the canoli - get the gun.

This one's a .44, but the idea is the same - pistol calibers in a lever carbine. Fun and inexpensive to shoot, effective on game out to 150 yards.

I agree, I've got a .357 Marlin, Winchester, and Puma (92), and they are all great guns; lots of fun to shoot... Nothing wrong, at all, with the Puma, mine is stainless, and has a beautiful stock. Because it's a model 92, it is a bit lighter/thinner than the Marlin and Winchester, so it's a little more 'handy' to handle.

Overall, the Marlin is probably my favorite, nice quality (very solid feel to it...), and a good shooter. You can get aftermarket triggers that really make a big difference with the Marlin... I also really like the Winchester, it's a very nice looking gun, with it's octagon barrel.

So, Redlevel, no pressure, you're not missing a thing...

I hope you get it. I had the Win. in .357 and regret ever letting it go. Prices just keep going up on them. It was accurate, reliable and kicked like a .22, what's not to like!
