Would it be possible to convert a cylinder to 9 mm And fit it to a model 19 or possibly a model 27?
Maybe convert cylinders on both so that 9 mm could be Fired from old school revolvers?
What would need to be done? Would anything need to be done to the frame?
Since there are plenty of used cylinders around I thought this might be a project, But I really wouldn't want to mess with the frame Or do anything to the barrel if that was necessary.
Thanks

There are companies who will machine an existing 36 caliber cylinder to accept the 9mm cartridge WITH moon clips. No alteration to the revolver except the cylinder.

An internet search will find them.

Absolutely this is possible

I have done many such conversions over the years.

This semi-Pinto Model 627 left the factory with an unfluted stainless cylinder

The second black cylinder has been chambered for 9x23 Winchester. Since auto loading cartridges fired in most Smith and Wesson revolvers headspace on the moon clips, all of the shorter cartridges can also be fired in this cylinder. In this case that includes 38SUPER, 38ACP, 356 TSW, 9x21, 9MM parabellum, 380ACP, and a couple more that I can't recall at the moment

More recently I had decided I wanted to replace my 625 V-Comp with one of the 5" 627 V-Comp revolvers to use when shooting pins. So a second stainless cylinder was set up for this revolver. It was also chambered in 9x23 Winchester like the cylinder above

While I have not converted any K-frames, I did convert a few cylinders for my J-frames

As you may or may not be aware the Factory has produced many different models of revolvers over the years that were chambered for the 9MM cartridge. This includes the Model 940 chambered for 9MM, the PC 940 Special chambered for 356 TSW, the Model 547 which was chambered for 9MM and did not require moon clips, the Model 686 chambered for 38SUPER, the Model 627s which were chambered for both 9MM and an additional variation chamber for 38SUPER and the Model 929 which was chambered for the 9MM cartridge

These are all Factory revolvers that shipped capable of firing 9MM

I have also modified the cylinders on all of my Model 940s so that they can now chamber and shoot 38SUPER.
