I tried googling this, but I was wondering if anyone knew of more than just the cheap kit (that does not have one good review) that Dixie Gun works sells of the Elgin Cutlass pistol.

Aye Laddie, are ya looking to board a vessel?

That is the only one I know of.

Can't help, but tell this story.

My uncle, Turner Kirkland, of Union City, was the founder of Dixie Gun Works. I used to work there, while I was in High School.

Early on, he took a European trip, to find a manufacturer for his Dixie squirrel rifles.

He was in Spain at the time, visiting an old armory, and remembered spying a pistol way in the back. He didn't realize until he had left, that it was probably an Elgin Cutlass.

He wrote the armory manager, after he returned to Tennessee, and sent a check, the amount guessed at. He described the pistol, and asked for it to be sent to him.

He told me, he never expected to hear from the guy, but a bit later, the pistol showed up.

The Elgin Cutlass is still on display at Dixie Gun Works.

He never would tell me how much he sent.
