Pricing for .22 High Standard "The Victor"

Thinking about adding this to the collection.
Wondering what you think is a fair price to pay for one that is LNIB or even may be NIB.
Made in Hamden, CT 1970. 5.5" bbl.

Vented rib with weight.
I don't know how to tell which grip it has.

I had one years ago, and don't remember it stamped Victor on frame, and then The Victor on the barrel.

Steel rib is worth more than the aluminum rib.

I have a 5 1/2" HAMDEN made Victor from the same period. I just mounted an Aimpoint H-1 on it and it's a tack driver. I would NEVER sell my Hamden gun. Mine has the weight, aluminum ventilated rib. It looks just like the one in the photo #3. I didn't shoot it much for a 30 plus year period and it looks like new.

A dealer around here was selling a 4 1/2" Hamden Victor from late 60's for $675 at a gun show within the last year.

A 5 1/2 " Victor LNIB from Hamden, CT from that time period you should grab it quick.
 
I have a Victor I got in the late '70s and have been shooting every since.

I don't know about the Victor you're talking about, but mine isn't for sale at any price.

Mine's a shooter.
 
Pictured is the military grip, $725 or under is a good deal. $850 top end but some folks are asking as high as $1000. If you buy it, it will probably require a very complete cleaning as sitting around for so many years, it probably has dry and hardened lube.

Moonman, not sure why, but in my experience, the steel ribs tend to bring less than the vent rib, but the solid rib brings a premium. Don't want to get into what slant grips are bringing.
 
Mr Beckwith, maybe it's the solid rib I meant. Mine is an aluminum ventilated rib and I knew from reading somewhere that another rib was worth more.

I wouldn't sell mine for $1000. Nuff Said, these were really great shooting pieces.
 
I recently traded a prime 657 straight up for a barely fired Citation fluted barrel.

I'm very happy with that deal.
 
Check this web site from time to time. ktpguns.com It often has a good selection of HS's that are underpriced in my opinion.
I shoot better w/my HS than w/a mod 41.

They are superb firearms. If you found one in that condition, just negotiate as much as possible then fork over the money. You will not be sorry. I have a 2 power Leupold on mine and it really is a superb shooter.
 
My concern

If you look at the pic I posted, you will find the gun stamped with "The Victor" on the barrel, and "Victor" on the frame.
I don't think this is correct - should be one way or the other.
Has anyone seen one with both stampings?
