One of the High end CZ's Depends on your sight preference. Frame, color etc.
CZ Shadow Target,
SA 75 Custom Shop Target
CZ-USA -> Product Categories

I hd been seriously looking at the CZs and hoped one of you would mention the Shadow or SA 75. I prefer target sights and solid black. I still like to soot up my sights. Can't stand the 3 dots or gow sights. Benn a Bullseye or Combat shooter for years and prefer sights blacket than the target. I smoked up my 686 today after watchin Jerry Miculek do his upside down pinky shooting and went out side to give it a try. It took a few shots to figure out to hold so that the last 1/4" of squeeze was smooth, but one I figured it out I was consistently hitting a 4X6 steet plate from 45 feet.
thanks for the info, opinion and link.

I had a Browning Competition Model HP once. Great gun, lovely trigger pull, and very accurate. However the rear sight is a stamping; a piece of junk that moves from shot to shot. Put Bo-Mars on it and it would be a world beater. I don't think they still make them.

I've got a 952 and a CZ SP-01 that was worked by the CZ Custom Shop. It's a toss up which is more accurate in "my hands".
I have been shocked at the overall accuracy and exceptional trigger that came back from the CZ shop. I shoot non-competitive target and love shooting both.

I got a CZ SP-01 from Angus Hobdell/CZ custom shop, and it's a really great shooter. Unbelievable single, and double action trigger pull, and very accurate. I highly recommend you check it out, a lot of gun for the $$.
I've got a nice selection to take to the range, and the SP-01 seems to find it's way into the range bag each time...

Guessing the SP-01 recommendation is for the Shadow Target model, not the Phantom or Tactical model, as the price is almost double.
I would think a S&W Pro-Series 9mm 1911 would be a nice target 9mm to own as well.

Yes, the Phantom is Plastic (a fine gun) but not the same as the Shadow.
To be honest a regular CZ 75 will shoot better than most people can. My compact CZ PO1 is a absolute tack driver and being compact and alloy (not steel) is just about perfect for me.
CZ-USA -> CZ P01
The higher priced ones are all about the trigger work.
The Browning High Power is also a excellent gun, same basic barrel and lock up as the CZ.

Without knowing what kind of target shooting you will be doing, I would recommend a Thompson Center Contender with a 9mm barrel. For the money you would be hard pressed to find anything more accurate. And it would be fun to work up some cast loads for it. It's easy to scope as well.

Tale a look at the EAA Witness Elite series. Highly underrated but well worth the look.

Lead bullets in target auto
I used to cast and size some 120 gr TC bullets from a Lee mold. I shot them in my Taurus. I worked up a light load that would cycle the gun even if I limp wristed a round and they didn't seem to lead up the barrel to bad.
How picky are these high priced autos with lead bullets other than round nose?

I shoot lead in my CZ's. They have a very short leade in the barrel chamber as does the Browning HP so with LRN bullets you need to seat them shorter. It's just a matter of taking out the barrel and doing the drop test of the loaded round to find the best OAL and reduce your powder charge if necessary. The EAA is a fine gun but just another CZ clone. The Sig X5 is not even close to you original price range, don't think the SW is either. They would be nice though.
You have me getting the itch for another CZ! I'm thinking the SP-01 Shadow Target.

I bought a Danish M49 Pistol with Ten Factory Mags when I ETSed from the Army. Its not a Target Pistol, it just shoots like one.

Rule 303 the 10 M49/P210 magazines you have are worth more on the market than Sr Citizen wants to spend for his pistol.
The P210 is commonly used as a target pistol in Europe.
