Decision Time: Compact 1911's in .45
Haven't shot them yet, but these two are in the running for CCW carry:
Colt Officers (with a grip change from those pimpdaddy's)
SA Micro Compact
Sold the Citadel from Armscor when I found these two.
Range report soon

They both shot extremely well today.
Ran FMJ and HP ammo like little champs.
I've chosen the Colt and put the Micro on GB.
So be it.

Probably a good choice.
I have a Colt Officers Model. I had it throated, and I replaced the recoil spring assembly including the recoil spriong plut with the Wilson Unit.
I recommend that change for every Officers Model.
I do not use a full length guide on other 1911's [except for a Competition Comp gun. but it is a must do on the Officers Model IMHO.
Rake a look at the small "teat" on the recoil spring plug that holds everything down there in place. They have been known to shear off, launching the plug and the spring out the front of the gun..
The Wilson unit has a much larger surface area to take the strain, an keep everything in the proper place.
My Officers Model is one of the most reliable 1911's I have ever fired.
I think those grips look pretty good.
Still I have to ask, Can you send a couple of girls up to my room...
Only kidding, I do like the grips...

I have a stainless lightweight Officers ACP. I put rubber Colt grips on it with the silver Rampant Colt meddalions on them. Only change was a single Wolff 22lb recoil spring. I cut the front strap off the grips. Between it and my Sig P245 I have a nice selection of compact carry .45's

I've had a few of the Colt Officers. I always replaced the dual recoil spring with Wolffs, and the plug with the guide rod and plug replacement unit. The reports on the tab breaking were usually on the stainless guns. .45 out of a 3.5" is a bit much for the arthritis in my wrist and hand. So no more Officers. The only Kimber I ever really liked was a compact (4") steel frame series 1 matte blue gun. I've always had problems with the extended safety accidentally "wiping off" when holstered. I know "so what".

I would take both guns and shoot 100 rounds a piece through each of them, if there are no jams with either, great. I had two experiences with a 1911 that soured me on concealed carry of them. One got a fuzz ball lodged between the hammer and firing pin, number two had the safety unset in an IWB holster. Now I carry a striker fired, DAO micro pistol.
