I had a buddy of mine retire from the sheriff department in a neighboring county recently after 30 years in law enforcement. He was the chief deputy, 2nd only to the sheriff. My wife and I went to his retirement dinner last weekend and had a great time seeing many friends in law enforcement.

As we were leaving the party my buddy whispers to me to come see him, he's got something for me. I knew what that was about . . . he has a Colt vest pocket that I've been trying to get him to sell me for ages. Sure enough, when I go see him he says he selling off a few of his guns and cashing them in to buy a Goldwing so he and his wife can tour the country by motorcycle. He made me a deal and I paid the man.

It's a very nice Colt Vest Pocket model 1908 in .25 ACP, made in 1918.

They've never felt right in my hand, but I've always been tempted to get one. I think they're cool little guns.

Have one just like it! Great little handgun and I always used it when nothing else would fit. I have long since retired it from that service and a Ruger LCP took its place.
Congratulations....Enjoy! ;)

Great little handgun! I'm envious. Mine isn't a Colt, but it's the same vintage and same caliber.

Is your .25 an FN? Same gun as the Colt, made in Belgium. I can't tell in the photo if it may be a Spanish copy.

Are the grips of abalone shell?

It's a Fabrique D'Armes de Guerre de Grande Precision. Isn't that a Spanish copy?

Yep, the grips are abalone shell. I have the original grips someplace, but they are broken.

Yep, one of the myriad copies of the Baby Browning. That one is more faithful than most. Quite a few do not have the grip safety and have the safety lever ahead of the grips on the frame. Where the line is drawn between Baby Browning copies and Unique copies could be an interesting discussion.

I have four (4) of those little Colt M1908 Pocket Vest.25 Autos. I have sometime carried them as a BUG when something larger couldn't be carried. I will tell you that I have never had a FTF or FTE with any of these autos.

I have three of them with Ivory Colt Grips and a rather beat up M1908 .25 that still gets put in my front pocket once in awhile.

When my daughter graduated at the top of her academy class and was sworn in as a San Diego Police Officer, I presented her with my best Ivory Griped Colt M1908 .25 ACP Handgun as she had always asked me if she could have one of them some day. Well, that day came when she was sworn in as a Police Officer.

The Colt M1908 was because she wanted it. I also presented her with her BUG Handgun a S & W Midel 642 . 38 Special so her Dad does not worry about her as much. She carries that S & W Model 642 Revolver with her at all times.
