Default Standard follower 1911 mags...?

...Are these safe in aluminum alloy frames?

People have been using them for more than 50 years in aluminum alloy frames like the original Colt Commander and Lightweight Commander models.
However, I have converted the magazines for my Lightweight Commander to these:

REPLACEMENT SPRING & FOLLOWER | Brownells

The idea is that they don't have the sharp toe that could ding the feed ramp. True ? I don't know but I like them and they function perfectly.

Do you run 7 or 8 round mags with these?
