Never thought I'd even consider it, but this little XDs in .45ACP shoots and carries so well, it just might replace my custom Colt CCO for daily carry.

capacity is only one less round

shoots just as accurately out to 50yds

lighter and more slender

Forgive me, John Moses Browning, for I have sinned. :(

doc ... Have you found the extended mag to pose any problems concealment-wise? I've stuck with the two stock flush mags thus far, and am quite pleased with them.

no, sir, I have not

I wear Mexican wedding shirts with the tail out

Pearce Grips

This extension is a little better looking, and a little bit more concealable. It saved my life with the XD sub-compact since I have bigger hands. I highly recommend it!

Gee Doc, we may have to sign you up for an exorcism, I did see one of Turnbull's "plain" 1911s, at Cabela's last week, it was singing my song. XD's are fine for workin dogs, but they don't sing, although the first time I shot an XD .40, well, I shot it better than anything I had ever shot before, and I was tryin not to??? billy

I agree with everything here about the XDs but will add that especially in summer, I don't worry about sweat damage like I do with my Kimber Ultra Raptor II.

The XDs is softer shooting, lighter, carries better is equally accurate and reliable. It has become my main EDC.

To get my pinky on the grip I added Pearce extenders. They work great and don't impact carry size (if you are ok with the 5 round mags).

Is that a PRS?

Good eye sir, It's a 25th Anniversary Brazilian Custom 24.
I'm lucky enough to have 5 of them. Here are a few more...

Next to a real, '59 Burst, they have my favorite tone.

(I'd like to hear that hollowbody.)

But I'm just a bass player. ;)

ETW holster arrived today

not as well made as an Adams Leather, but fits well, rides well, and is comfortable....well worth the money, $45 shipped

Also, bought a High Noon Split Decision High Ride Tuckable, and it'll work in a pinch if I have to tuck my shirt tail.

Powder River extended safety, CT laser (haters save your breath)

Polished the trigger/action pieces when I installed the safety, trigger is perfect for carry, still accurate out to 50 yards.

The custom Colt 1911 is in the nightstand, the XDs is on my hip.

I'm not too old to change horses when it makes sense.

I know you Doc....nice XD but that gun is not you....I can tell from this thread you are really trying but I give it 2 months and you'll be back to the 1911...I can hear his little muffled pleas from here...."Doc, open the nightstand and take me with you."

Well, if the past is any indication of the future... :o

This little piece reminds me of a 1911 in its grip angle, thin profile, and accuracy.

I can't help it if it just SHOOTS so darned good.

I dont think anything in my stable will ever replace the colt 1911.

I'd be willing to sell the whole stable before any of the 1911's left for a new home.

I'd even be willing to get rid of my ole lady before i got rid of the 1911's. My ole lady is great, but unlike my 1911's SHE is replaceable. The make plenty of women in this world, but they just dont make a finer 1911 than a Colt. And those plastic toys just arent the same as the ole trusty 1911.
