I just picked this up for my 10yr old daughter. She has outgrown her custom Chipmunk and it was time for something larger.
I am confused about the nomenclature on this rifle. I am familiar with the fact that FN built all the Browning of this era and that you can find examples of identical firearms bearing the FN or the Browning labels. I am aware that on High-Powers the serial numbers run in two different parallel serial number ranges.
This gun is marked FN along with "Browning Patent", similar to browning High-Powers I have seen. This serial number is 27,xxx. Do they run in the same range as the brownings or are they unique, similar to the High-Powers?
Regardless - any one have an idea approximately what year was it made?
It was in very nice clean condition on the outside when I bought it, but wow it was filthy on the inside. I think I was the first person to do a complete tear down and cleaning since the rifle was new.
