Anyone have input? Considering a .308 assault rifle, and looking for best platform. DPMS seems reasonable. How does it compare to the Rock River Arms version?

I own a DPMS LR308, but no experience with the Oracle.
My LR is a superb rifle. It's a flat-top model, and I have a Nikon Monarch mounted atop it. It will shoot sub-moa, in the range of .75" @ 200 yards. It likes a Sierra 168 BTHP. Mine has about 1k rounds through it, and not a single problem.

I have a DPMS SASS that is excellent , 3/4" @ 200 yd with Fed gold. A friend with an LR 308 was doing 6" @ 1000 YD with factory ammo, I do not know where hes has gone with his loads. Be Safe,

Thanks for the replies and assessments. I've got one on hold/order from the LGS, and I'm pulling the pin as soon as I sell the safe queen I'm using to finance the deal. Meeting the potential first buyer Monday, and got another committed buyer as backup.

I have one. A DPMS LR308 that is....
It's pretty good for the price. The Rock River is a little better in my opinion. However you will pay a little more for the RR as well....
It's by no means a precision rifle, but accuracy is good.

That's my intended purpose for it when the SHTF. You can call it a high velocity ballistic delivery system if you want, but around here, we call spades spades. If it's primary purpose for me is to launch an assault against an attacker in defense of life and property, it's an assault rifle.

Assault rifles are capable of full auto. Keep calling them assault rifles and you give a reason for a ban since we are only allowed SPORTING RIFLES!
Assault rifles have been outlawed in 1986. So unless you have a pre 86 select fire rifle you DON'T HAVE A ASSAULT RIFLE

It must have an intermediate-power cartridge: more power than a pistol but less than a standard rifle or battle rifle

The term "assault rifle" does not appear in the 1986 bill. The term "machine gun" happens to appear multiple times. Using assault rifle and assault weapon in the vernacular does nothing to change the meaning. Machine guns are banned absent a tax stamp. Assault rifles are not. I've read the definition you provided, as well as a hundred others from other sources. Congress has had multiple definitions over the years. The one constant is "machine gun," which is a term of art. "Assault rifle" and "Assault weapon" are not. Where exactly did your initial definition of an assault rifle come from? It looks suspiciously like Wikipedia's description.

Well, your first statement is not entirely true, given that only some parts (important ones, certainly) have to be pre-ban. As for you second assertion, you can call it anything you want. Avoiding the topic draws more scrutiny than confronting it. I know of a state training academy that pushed a swimming pool past the legislature by calling it a "training tank." The grand opening tour caused quite the hullaballoo.

Some parts? Find me an AK part that can be select fire pre ban? They don't exist m ifs the whole rifle. Either you have a semi a auto receiver or you dont. Same with the FAL if I'm not mistaken.
