Colt Woodsman Match Target, with Roper stocks...

Here's a 1940 Colt Woodsman Match Target with a nice set of Roper stocks. It's one of two, almost matching, right down to the Ropers.... the other one is a 1938 Match Target, I'll post later.....

I have never seen a setup like this so have to ask. Is it a bit clumsy or unhandy to insert or remove the magazine with these grips?
 
I didn't have too much trouble with it, although I am wondering why the "cave" was added. I suppose it would be cumbersome if you were shooting at a timed match and had to change magazines.....
Overall the stocks fit my hand like a good dream; absolute comfort.
I got lucky that the guy whose hand it was made for is the same size as mine :)
