Hi,

Anybody have any thoughts or experiences with older Herrett grips ("stocks" as Steve Herrett preferred) made in the Roper or Sanderson thumbrest target style?

At one time, these were quite popular through Gil Hebard's mail order store.

They're not offered for general ordering on the Herrett's website. But, there is a "custom" tab on the home page that takes you to their old-style order form, ie: the one where you send in a hand tracing.
Curiously, it mentions "Roper Stocks" as an option.
I have no idea what they would charge today, assuming they'd make them.

Anyhow, attached is a copy of that form plus a couple photos of Left Hand "Sanderson" style (to my eye!) stocks for a S&W N-frame. It fully encloses the back strap, but is open at the lower part of the front.

I love old gun accessories, I would have bought those grips at a gun show in a heartbeat. They look very comfortable for shooting. Nice catch Jim, do they have a palm swell? Larry

I have a pair of Sanderson's that came on a no dash Model 14 I found on GB. They fit me well and are quite comfortable. Eventually I would like to find another pair for my K22 masterpiece.

Have several sets of stocks from Herretts to include Ropers & Jordan's unfortunately none w/ the thumb rest. All were made from a hand outline I sent them. All are older stocks at least 10-15 years. The Ropers are most comfortable.

I hope you were lucky enough to pick up your model 14 for a bargain, since it came without "correct" grips, haha! ;)

It's kinda fun to pick up a nice item for a great price simply because it's "no longer original"!

That S&W and the grips are gorgeous! Thanks for sharing!

I have a set of smooth Herrett's N frame thumbrest grips. They're very nice.
I'm waiting on those checkered ones! I hope they're as comfortable.

After shipping and transfer fee it was a bit over $400, so yes I did get a good deal.:D
