I was minding my own business, well, helping a friend with his new AR and he is new to AR's. So technically minding some of my own business. I spot a nice little SBR AR variant at a friends shop hanging on the wall. After a little more gawking, I discover it is a pistol instead of a SBR. One thing led to another after a well-placed phone call and my shooting pard picked it up. After a bit of cussing me and finding some various parts to convert range guns to the same flavor, he makes me a two-thirds price deal on this still unfired Sig 516 that is a week old. I don't prey on friends, but he needs to move this as he got ahead of himself. Unfortunately, it was just payday, so I had no excuse to say no. See evidence below..........

After 300 rounds on the range today, I'm VERY HAPPY with the 7.5" barreled Sig 516. I put a Comp M4 Aimpoint on it and zeroed at a fairly close range for the intended possible purposes. I opened the gas system up a click as it was under 30 degrees and 55 grain ammo was being used. The piston system shined with the gas block adjustability. The ammo chrono'ed 2350 with PMP Gold. I picked up some soft Ergo lowpro rail covers, an A2 grip, and a BCM Gunfighter medium charging handle. A set of Magpul pro sights front and rear will find their way onto the pistol. I'm also changing the selector to a standard A2 type non-ambi, and a McCormick trigger-pak. A sling and Vortec flash hider will finish it out in the next month or so. If you get the chance to play with one of these, give it a try. I'm all smiles and may put the Bushmaster M4 into semi-retirement. That is all.

They get funner the smaller they are. After a 10.5" I had to have a 7." Everyone in the family enjoys that one and it gets passed around a bit at the range.

Guys in the next shooting stall may not be so appreciative.
