Default Browning mini .25 price ?

I recently discovered an Uncle has a firearm my Grandpa bought years ago. I only found out when I ran across an ad where my Uncle is asking about selling it.
I have no interest in using or reselling this Browning. But want to make sure I will not be overpaying in the sake of wanting to keep it in my Family.
He says he has had offers between $600 and $700. After my request he offered it to me at $500.

This mini Browning .25 comes with original box with red velvet inside, instructions and my Uncle believes it was never fired. He says the serial numbers show it was made in 1960.Has a hand written note in the box in my Grandpas writing says "made in 1960". I do believe there
is a very good chance this has never been fired,my Grandpa was not a hunter, sportsman or concealed carry type person.

What might this be worth?

thank you

When I a curious about a price, I log on to Gunbroker and search for the gun under completed auctions in the advanced search. Look for guns that have had bids. I just searched for baby browning 25. One that looked unfired sold for $520. A used one sold for $380.

I think the fact that yours belonged to your grandfather and has the box and papers, $500 is a fair price.

I have seen them sell for 200-300 bucks used a lot and some do not even get that. The ammo is not a ready found round and will either have to be made or special ordered.

25 ACP? It is quite common and easily found in most any gun store.

There's a warning on the ammo box that the stuff can cause severe bruising.

Actually quite a number of people have been rendered null and void by .25ACP, and you apparently don't plan to carry it anyway. Clearly this little Browning has great sentimental value for you. Shoot a couple of magazines through it for S&G and treasure it.

Thanks to everyone for the info.

Since it has been mentioned here,I checked out the gunbroker site,I'll remember that site and keep an eye on it.

Not really worried about ammo,no need to fire it yet,I have some S & W's to handle the personal defense job and for fun sport shooting. I will get some ammo though, cause don't see any sense in having the firearm and no ammo for it.

My wife says the same thing...the Uncle should give it to me.

I'll get it and treasure it,enjoy the sentimental value in the fact that my Grandpa bought it somewhere around 1960.
It's really kind of neat because I never could picture my Grandpa owning a firearm and my Grandma letting him

thanks again to all

When you check the Gunbroker site, use the "Advanced" search and select "Completed Auctions". Then only pay attention to those athat actually sold, and not those that were just expired unsold. Often these are on the market for $800 or so, but never sell and keep being re-listed over and over. I was at a local auction a few weeks ago and one (that had been fired and was about 95%) went for $325 without the box.

Great little gun. Wildly impractical in this day-in-age though. More of a high-quality novelty for the collector, I think. $500 is full retail, even with the box. Uncle should at least come down some.

Thanks much for the completed auction tip and the additional comments.

I have been doing a little research and I agree,$500 does seem about like a retail market asking price. I will explain this to him and see if I can get him to budge on the price.

thank you

400.00 would seem to be fair to both of you. $450.00 maybe.

One thing I've noticed about the Baby Browning: It's one of those guns that trades in a narrow price band. Never under $400.00 it seems, and never actually sold for over $500.00. Very predictable.

I suppose I shouldn't say never, but you see my point.

I had one. Note the "had". Really no place to put something like this. Always the first to get thought of when layoff time comes around.

I purchased a 65% finish Baby for $298 in a local shop. I would have hit on a mint one with box and history for double.

Good Luck!

$469, but what difference does it make. If your uncle is after the $$ rather than give it a proper home. The $$ difference either way is less than a nice dinner out. Buy it. I have one and it's a decent little backup but don't trust the safety as I've been told. Also check out Precisin Arms who is still making them under license.

Thanks to all for the additional comments and pricing info.

My Uncle wouldn't come down on price. His phone conversation with a historian from Browning and this historian offering him $600 kept him firm on price.

I did pick it up though with the only reason being,it was my Grandpas.
The firearm itself looks new,not "like new"...New! The box has some minor blemishes. Included the instructions.
I am happy to have it.
In the next few days I'll get some pics and post them.

Thanks
