Triggers-Smith and Colt
I shoot Steel Challenge with an N frame 627 in ISR category. And a K frame 617 in RFPI category. I know how the Smith trigger pull feels.
I have just received a Colt Lawman Mark III. I shot it for the first time today. The trigger pull was different than the S&W's. I don't know how to describe it. Seemed heavier; but smooth? Any one else please help me understand the differences. Thanks

I have very little experience with the "new type" coil spring Colt actions, but the old V spring actions have a notorious reputation for "stacking" on the DA pull. The trigger pull on these gets noticeably heavier just before the hammer drops.
Is this what you were experiencing?

It may be that. The Colt Lawman Mark III has a coil mainspring. Do the Pythons have the old V spring or coil spring?

Pythons are V spring-they were the only V spring action that Colt kept in production after the 1970s.
I've never had a Python or any other "Snake" gun but have had a bunch of V springs guns. I've sold off a couple, but at the moment have a Police Positive Special, Detective Special, and Trooper 357.

I had a Trooper MkIII, which has the newer coil mainspring. It stacked in double action, which was a large part of why I sold it (that and I prefer the smaller size and balance of K-frames). Single action was superb - crisp and light like a S&W with a trigger job perform or lots of wearing in. If I ever buy another Colt, it will be a long barrel gun for target shooting SA only.
