Colt Mustang, Browning 1911-380
Help me compare these two pistols and any scaled down 1911 in 9mm that you know of.
Colt Mustang
Caliber: .380 ACP
Barrel Length: 2.75 in.
Total Length: 5.5 in.
Height: 3.9 in.
Width: 1.10 in.
Weight: 12.5 oz.
Magazine Capacity: 6+1
Browning Black Label 1911-380
Caliber: .380 ACP
Barrel Length: 4.5 in.
Total Length: 7.39 in. (85% the size of the Model 1911A1 in .45 ACP)
Height: 4.82 in.
Width: 1.13 in.
Weight: 17.28 oz.
Magazine Capacity: 8+1
We will not see a 1911-9mm from Browning, because they have already considered it. The pressures of the 9mm were too much for the 85% 1911 design.
I have a Star PD (25 oz)(6+1) and Kel-Tec P-11 (14 oz.)(12+1).
What is the smallest semi-auto looking 1911 .45 ACP on the market?
Is there a smaller and lighter weight semi-auto 9mm on the market other than the Kel-Tec P-11?
Will we ever see a DA/SA without a grip safety with the thumb safety capable of being on with the hammer down on in a scaled down 1911 in .380 ACP? Now that would be some pistol, especially better control and for small hands.

SIG 238 is similar to the Colt Mustang
Colt Defender:
O7002D UPC_Code: 098289042217 Description: CLT DEFENDER CMPCT 9MM 3SS 8R Manufacturer: Colt Model #: Defender Type: Semi-Automatic Pistol Finish: Stainless Steel Stock: Rubber Grips, Finger Grooves Sights: White Dot Carry Sights Barrel Length: 3" Overall Length: 6 3/4" Weight: 22 1/2 oz Caliber: 9MM Capacity: 8+1 Action: Single Action # of Mags: 2 Chokes: Packaging: Receiver: Chamber: Muzzle: Features: 3 Hole Aluminum Trigger, Combat Hammer
In my opinion the P11 would be my choice for any opponent in a gun fight. I sold mine fast. My son made the same choice.
As much as I like my wife's Mustang , the sights and safety not locking the slide disturb me. Holstering can put gun out of battery with a and in and safety on.
I like the Stars too.
The Polish Radom PPK clone in 9x18 is a winner also. Snappy recoil but a great gun.

Can't answer much, but a friend has an early Mustang that shoots great, much better than the new models.

I really like my Sig 938, pretty much the same as the 238 but in 9mm. I carry mine frequently.

I have a Colt Mustang Pocketlite I bought in 1989. I have never had a stoppage with it and accuracy has been acceptable for what it was designed for. At the time, it was about the smallest and lightest .380 around. The slide can be operated with the safety on. It is easy to thumbcock it if desired. I have a LCP that I would likely carry instead these days mainly since I don't want to subject the Colt to more wear.

I would carry a Star PD before a would carry a Browning 1911-380, but that weight difference and the additional shot control is something to consider. My choice of the three is still the Ruger LCP.
3.90" Barrel length Star PD
3.50" Barrel length Colt Officer's ACP
3.00" Barrel length 1911 EMP
3.00" Barrel length SIG Saurer P938
4.50" Barrel length 1911-380
2.75" Barrel length Ruger LCP

A little unfair to make a choice without having shot all three, don't you think? A decision based soley on "specs" is less than optimum - IMO.

Springfield Armory makes the 1911 style EMP in 9mm as a reduced size gun. 1911 EMP® 9MM Handgun | Aluminum Frame Pistols for Sale
SIG makes the P938 Scorpion as a reduced-size 9mm with 1911 style controls. P938 Scorpion

The smallest 1911 .45ACP that I am aware of is the Colt Officers ACP (not currently in production) and its various clones built by Kimber, Springfield Armory, Rock Island, etc. The Colt New Agent is in production but has no sights. Colt New Agent® Series

Sure, the Kel-Tec P9 is smaller and lighter because it is a single stack, holding seven rounds in the magazine. I do not think there is a smaller, lighter 9mm that holds ten rounds in the magazine than the P-11.
In addition to the P9 there are any number of other single-stack 9mms that are marginally smaller and possibly lighter than the P-11, including the Rohrbaugh R9, Kimber Solo, Boberg XR9, Ruger LC9, Taurus 709, Diamondback DB9, and I'm sure there are others.

Colt Mustang Plus II
For those unfamiliar with the Colt Mustang. Here's a pic of one that I sold about a year ago to a forum member. Sorry I can't comment on its performance as I never fired it!

If you mean a 1911, but in Officers Model size, ( 3 1/2" barrel, short 6 round grip frame in .45), the Rock Island Armory Compact comes in both .45 and 9mm.

Magnum Research also makes a "Mini" 1911, the Undercover? Is that right? I read about them somewhere. I have a Springfield EMP in 9mm.
I shot the EMP in .40S&W...there's some recoil there. It also has a steel frame, my EMP 9mm is aluminum alloy. So light you forget it's there. Much better than a .380 IMO. Ammo for the .380 is way more expensive than 9mm. It's in the .45acp price range.
I sold my Colt lightweight commander because of numerous problems.
I don't have any issues with the EMP. It's accurate, and I pack it everyday.

The KelTec is a PF9 and the Colt Officers is available as the "Defender."
Unless it's strictly to be a pocket gun, I'd be leaning in the 9mm/40S&W direction.
There's also Kahr, the S&W Shield in 9/40, and Springfield XDS 9mm and 45acp to choose from.

I know the Mustang my wife's CCW is the XSP I've shot it many times and like the gun. It easy for me to carry it just slides into my pocket. I've only shot it a 7 yards with it and can produce 3" groups.
