Default M1 Carbine stock question

M1 carbine stock markings.
All metal parts on the carbine are marked correctly (UNDERWOOD)
including trigger group parts.
The stock, I can't identify the markings in the strap cutout .
TRIM ???? under that is a clear TN
My camera isn't good enough for a photo.

The TN mark is for Trimble Nursery and Furniture Co. made stocks for M1 carbines. IIRC lots of Saginaw rifles used them as well as Underwood.

The TRIM you can see used to say "TRIMBLE" which is part of their markers mark.

Enjoy the rifle they are fun little shooters.

TN is for Trimble Nursery. They manufactured children's furniture.

Someone decided they wanted to get a better cheek weld. In the process they ruined the collector value of the stock. In my opinion, they butchered it. Thankfully replacement stocks are fairly easy to find.

yes, but replacements are pricey, been checking them out,a little to high for my budget . The ones on ebay are all priced to high and in really bad condition.
To me this rifle is just a keeper.
Nice rifle in case needed, can't handle my M14 any longer

On that site how would one tell if its one of the company's that made them for Underwood ? If I sprung for one I would want one from one of the original suppliers . , All the metal on the rifle is in excellent condition Never mind,I emailed them.
Maybe if I can request a certain manufacturer from them I'm buy myself a Xmass present.
Thanks again for all your help

I would call them. You have to remember that most of these rifles were reworked rearsenaled so unless you are selling as a collector piece any USGI wood in good condition is good to go IMHO.

Huge numbers of .30 Carbines were completely rebuilt and upgraded with new click-adjustable rear sights and bayonet lugs after WWII and then placed in storage. I have understood that most, if not all, of those which were rebuilt received postwar-manufactured stocks from a single manufacturer, don't remember who that manufacturer was. I imagine most of the original stocks were used for firewood.

I really don't think mine was a rework, all parts including internal trigger group parts have the Underwood markings.
I keep three protection guns
Long distance ( M14) To heavy for my old body, thats a stationary rifle.
Short distance (M1 carbine)
Up close and personal (686) and Mossberg (590 12ga.)
