Howdy folks, my son in law has a thing for the Browning A5 and my shooting buddy Big Fred mentioned that he had a Savage (M-775 I think) A5 clone, light version with the aluminum receiver he wouldn't mind getting rid of so I hooked em up. Anyhoo it sat at my house for a few days and the more I looked at it the more I liked the thing, complete with the "Poly-choke" hanging off of the end of it. It's in good shape for it's age and a little work on the wood made her look right nice and from the internal wear it looks like it wasn't shot a lot. Well my son in law thought $200.00 was too much and took a pass, but I didn't, I have a thing for old vintage stuff! Big Fred, a fellow forum member and I went out to the range to do a bit of shooting today and I shot the Savage with light trap loads and then set the "rings" for heavy loads and she worked just fine. Recoil was a bit on the heavy side with that barrel slinging back and forth and age hardened recoil pad but wasn't as bad as it's reputation. I'm afraid I'm too lazy to take pics and we all know what they look like!

I would like to extend to all here a wish for a HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Happy new year. But we need pics.

Ok, ya shamed me, I'm taking the pic's! The thing is so long I had to take long range pic's to get it all in. The commotion on the receiver is the factory engraving of birds and such, not corrosion or scratches. With the overhead light I couldn't get a good receiver shot without glare. It is in good condition and a good looking old hoss.
