Guys, I have both the Walter PPQ and a Springfield Mod2 Subcompact. I was contemplating on getting either another PPQ or the Mod2 4" Service model.

Both guns have great ergonomics, both are fine shooters, but the PPQ is the most accurate pistol I ever shot. The Mod2 trigger even though it is mushy, a lot of creep in trigger, I can still shoot very well with it.

But here is my problem. From a quality build standpoint, it seems the Springfield is a lot better made, the slide is more heavy duty, the barrel is hammer forged, the Walter is not. The slide on the Walter also seems much thinner and cheaply made. Your thoughts?

It sounds like the Walther is the better pistol, and the slide weight is not an issue. Lighter doesn't equate to "lighter duty". If the "heavier duty" slide is overbuilt for the caliber, does that make it better? And, apparently the hammer forged barrel is not a panacea for accuracy, right? My Walthers fit my hand better than any other pistols. I like the triggers. Frankly, I like the M1 mag release better, too, but that is just my preference. I guess what I'm saying is, make sure that the difference you see is something that actually means something. Sometimes, different is good.

I like the feel of the new XDs, but won't give up my Walther PPQ M-1 in 40. Great trigger and grips are super. Only complaint is the bore axis is a bit high, resulting in some extra muzzle flip. Would maybe buy in 9mm now, or consider the 45 version.

I have the PPQ in .45 and yes it has lots more kick than my 9mm version, love them both but I do have to say the Mod2 seems much better built. The PPQ slide seems a bit cheap and the rails are like Glock's, very tiny and thin.
