A LGS has a pump action Remington 527 BDL on sale.

It's a really nice looking rifle. Tube magazine type.

I've always considered pump action rifles kind of neat.

I had a Remington bolt action tube magazine 22 as a kid but my mom sold it when I was away in college.

I haven't had a 22LR rifle since. Maybe it's time to remedy that problem.

Does anyone have one of these and/or have an opinion on it?

Remington has made The 572 for quite a long time & they tend to be Reliable & of Good Quality,I think you will be happy with it,A good place you may find more info is The Remington Section of the forums @ Rimfire Central

I've never owned one but I've thought about it but got turned off by
the somewhat bulky aluminum receiver. I have several older all steel
classic pump 22 rifles made by Remington and Winchester and the 572
just doesn't have the same appeal for me. Some people do like them
but I'd rather wait for a decent deal on an old one, but older ones can
be costly.

If I were you,I'd seek out a nice tube fed, bolt action Remington,to make yourself whole again.
That said,as adults,we sometimes see things as less wonderful than we remember them as being.

I have an older Remington 121 pump gun(steel receiver) as well as a 572. Neither has ever caused me any problems and an advantage of the 572 is it's grooved so installing a scope is a snap.

I just fixed one for a customer last fall,,the trigger pull was 9# on it.
Other than that, it didn't have any functioning problems.
Decent accuracy w/a quality 'scope after a 3.5# pull was achieved,,but nothing tack driving (limited testing).
Bench rest accuracy was not expected by the owner either.

I wasn't too impressed with the alloy recv'r nor the insides (mechanics) of it, but to be fair the gun is state of the art design, materials and mfg for the era it was made.
I just hold a personal liking for the earlier rifles of the preWW2 era and I look at everything based on that.

One other BIG advantage to these Remington's is they're a lot less expensive then comparable Winchester 22s.

NO COMPARISON!

I've had one for years. Was a "ranch rifle" we kept in our semi-permanent trailer at our hunting ranch for kids and jack rabbits (Much as I dislike MOST kids, we let them shoot the jack rabbits, not vice versa!). Good for the occasional cottontail for dinner or keeping the ground squirrel population in control. Chased a lion that was after the horses off with it one night.

I have both the 552 BDL and the 572 BDL. Not super accurate but they are my 2 favorite 22's.

I have an old one that I picked up from a friend's estate. On the downside it's awkward to shoot from a bench rest (due to the fore end/pump handle design) and the trigger isn't real good. On the plus side it feeds shorts through the magazine which is handy for dispatching the occasional rat in the back yard. You rarely see them for sale and I'm kind-of surprised to see Remington still markets them.

When I was a kid, I got a 572 ADL, with the grooved fore end for Christmas. It was my first real rifle. I used to get a brick of .22's per week in allowance. God knows how many shots I fired from the rifle off the back porch, and in the woods behind my house, but it was a lot. Always reliable, and accurate, with a Bushnell 7/8 inch scope mounted.

I eventually sold it when the internals started to wear, and it became unreliable. I was on the "gun of the month" kick back then, and I now wish I had kept it and had it fixed. Excellent gun. A couple times I have thought about buying another, but the sentimental value of the original would not be there.

I have a Henry pump, no problems with it. But if I could only have one .22_it would be a marlin39a. My first and favorite .22

Got the cheap 572 for my birthday, in 1973. Cost 80 bucks (price tag was stuck to the box).

Been doing fine for 42 years, now.

One of my Grail guns is a smoothbore Remington 572. Looks like a baby 870.
