Default Stippling - warranty?

I was contemplating doing some grip modification for my wife (sadly, on a Glock 19) and stippling, but somebody brought up a warranty question. Since Glock's warranty only appears to be one year, it doesn't seem like a problem. However, S&W's is "lifetime," so does anyone know of a problem that was denied warranty service because of stippling?

Seems to me you ought to be asking S&W, not the board.

I have an email out to Glock and S&W about it. My question to the board, which I don't know if S&W will answer, was if anyone here had been denied service for stippling. The board is usually faster than S&W ...

OK, I understand your reasoning.

If you are talking about stippling the grips, I would not think it would have any affect with S&W. It would be no different than someone changing the grips on their revolver.

Yes, just the grip area (essentially the same area as Talons cover). I can't imagine this would 1) cause any problems with the gun functioning or 2) void a warranty. Obviously if the frame cracked, or something happened around the grip, that would be different. Some of the wording on warranties make it sound like if you "change" anything the warranty is voided.

From S&W, stippling voids the warranty because it "damages the frame." I inquired if it voided the whole warranty, or just anything relating to the frame, and I got the same response. This sucks. I don't want to waste such a great warranty, but my Shield needs something ...

I still haven't heard back from Glock, but their warranty is only one year. I won't worry about it after that.

Thank you for providing this information. I was thiiiiiiis close to having it done next next month, but no way. I won't risk my warranty being voided no matter how much I like the stippling work. If you or your wife are still looking for an alternative, look at Talon grips. I heard they are great and I've already order a set to try out before I got my stippling job done. After reading your post, I'm glad I ordered them. Here's a video that helped me make my decision. I have the M&P full size. Thanks and good luck.
