I'm looking at a Dan Wesson model 15 stainless 357 revolver. It is in very nice shape, lightly fired. It is just the gun by itself. Any idea of current value?
He wants $725

Thanks for any help.

In this area I'd think somewhat high. I saw one a couple of weeks ago an individual had for 400. Stainless with one barrel. He didn't have the barrel tool. The ventilated rib/heavy barrel will add to the value. Others on an Atlanta website sometimes ask up to 650.00. DW still produces barrels along with Eric at EWK.

Check completed auction prices on Gunbroker for max prices. Below is a link to the DW owners forum and EWK for barrels and tools, etc.

Good luck on your decision, they are good revolvers and very strongly built.

Thank you very much for the help...

Friend had one with the interchangeable barrels I believe. Late 80s I believe. Had the shroud that fit over barrel back then. Heavy trigger pull I recall but was robust and well built.

Around here, the Dan Wessons don't appear for sale very often, and I cannot recall ever seeing a stainless one for sale. Price varies, but I think they are roughly equivalent in price to a Ruger Security Six. Thus, in good condition, with a single barrel, no case or other goodies, I'd ballpark at around $500.00 - $600.00+. I've always wanted to add one to my collection of .38Special/.357Magnum revolvers, but never could find one I could afford.

Good luck,

Dave

Did you try the trigger on this? I tried one recently and the double action was pretty awful. Single action was ok. My K frames are much better!

Seems a little high for around here too. I don't see many sold, and I don't see any solo pistol/barrel configurations for more that about 600. Your results may vary!

$600 is my estimate too.

I think the new ones are selling right at $1000.

I recently came across a pristine perfect (zero plum color) "as-new" DW .357 pistol pack, blued, for $1,800 tagged price (plus tax, of course). I've been looking to buy a Dan Wesson sometime before I take the long dirt nap, but I've seen them for better prices than that. I told the clerk that I'd be back a little later if I won the lottery. :)

Actually, my preference would be for a stainless steel DW revolver... ideally a Monson gun in .44 Magnum w/full shroud. I don't think I really need a bunch of extra barrels. ;)

There's been one for sale here in Milledgeville for around 2 years now. He prices his guns right and turns over his inventory every couple of months. . .except for this one. I really haven't even looked at it because I really don't want it.

I sold my stainless .357 pistol pack with 4 barrels in a factory case for $450 around 1990. Don't want it back. I never did figure out if the trigger or the barrels were rougher. I'll take my Smiths any day.

If only we could go back in time 26 years... I'd buy it from you! :D
