Asking for any information I can get on this Colt. I just bought it today and can't find it listed in the Blue Book. There doesn't seem to be any completed GB auctions for this model. I think maybe not too many of them made. Serial number is GMO13XX. I used to belong to the Colt Forum, The ownership has changed and passwords kicked out and I don't feel like messing with them. I like my time here more anyway. Thanks for any help.

I don't know anything about the gun, but you sure know how to win over your audience!!! I see you have been here a long time, but posted only a few times. Welcome back. I probably have as many, or maybe more Colts than I do Smiths, but I only belong to one forum, and this is it. I think you will find plenty of Colt guys here and well as Smith guys.

The closest I have to your gun is a 70s series blued Gold Cup, and a 1960s Colt Commander in 38 super, So I'm not going to be much help. That looks like a great gun though....

Interesting. I've seen quite a few G.C. Commanders, but I've never seen one with that slide roll marking. How about a pic of the other side, and a pic of the box label.

The first two runs of Gold Cup Commanders were the "Custom Editions"

500 of each were produced. Serial numbered GCC0001-GCC0500 for the stainless guns and 1GCC-500GCC for the blued guns. That way you could own a matched set. This firearm was offered back in the days when you could own a Colt serial numberThese were quite popular, especially the stainless version, so a standard Gold Cup Commander was produced in three runs of 500 pieces. These were serial numbered GMO0001-GMO1500.

Unlike the "Custom Edition" the standard edition did not have the beavertail grip safety and the wood grips were replaced with wrap around rubber.

I ordered Ivory stocks from the Colt Custom Shop for my blue Gold Cup Commander (which is my BBG gun). On my stainless gun I put the Safariarms slide stop and safety in place of the factory supplied parts sine that was my carry gun at the time.

Don't feel bad about leaving other forums, and spending time here. I'm a member of a few others, but this is the one that I come to most, and frequently.

I handled one of those at the Second Chance Bowling Pin Shoot in the
1990s.
Nice gun with a superb trigger. Quite a contrast to the DA/SA gun
Colt also had brought out that year. That had an abomination of a trigger.

Never owned either. Wish I had a Gold Cup.

I have one of the Custom Edition blue Gold Cup Commanders which I bought new in he early 90s; serial number 321GCC. I shot it a bit when it was new but it's been a safe queen for the last 20 yrs. My recollection is 500 blue and 500 stainless models were built. Demand must have been good since they brought out your version too. I don't recall what accuracy was but most Gold Cups aren't "tack drivers" unless 7 yd. groups count.
