I have two that I picked up new at a gun show for a good price, no problems as of yet, maybe 250 rounds through each. I wouldn't hesitate to get more.

I have MecGar mags for Sig 226, Beretta 92, CZ 75, Browning P35. As good as factory, sometimes better as in extra 2-5 rds. Joe

MecGar produces many of the "factory" magazines provided with new semi-auto pistols, so I suspect they will work well in your 1911.

I have 1911 single stacks and Para Ordnance double stacks that work flawlessly. The newest ones are about 5 years old with hundreds of rounds through them.

Bought a couple hi - caps for my CZ 75 and they run flawlessly. The price was about half of factory mags. Construction and finish is excellent also.

Do you have any factory Colt mags for your 1911? If so, they are probably Mec Gars made for Colt. Any other questions we can help you with?

My Kel Tec factory mags even have the Mec Gar logo on them.

I have several Mec-Gar 7 round 1911 magazines and I prefer them to all others. The exception is WW2 mags GI for my "US Property" marked pistol..

I prefer them to all others. Excellent quality and not over priced.
I have several , used in Colt and AMT Hardballer (first stainless 1911).
The Mec-Gar mag's solved a feeding problem with the old AMT factory magazine's . The cheap bargain basement "milspec" ones I kept trying were a waste of money. Mec-Gar are my first choice.

Hello forum;

OP didn't say whether modern 1911 or WWI, WWII, etc.

I have three MecGar 7 round mags for 1911/1911A1. I use them every time any of the guns come out for exercise.

That leaves the Ithaca (code letter L = Little), the GS = General Shaver for the Remington Rand, the original serial numbered mag for the Argentine, the C-R (Colt -Risdon) all safely tucked away. Those original mags are worth anywhere from $100 and up depending on the particular collector and of course condition, so to me, no use taking any unnecessary risks.

All Mec-Gars in any of the guns, at any time have been flawless and well worth the relatively few bucks paid. I have not bought any used, only the new ones. Also had Mec-Gar for the 1941 Luger, and an old Browning Buck Mark (slabside) that was an absolute bear to find any sort of replacement mag for.

I've got 2 for Brn HP. Had to fit them to get them to function.
No more Megar for me. I do know guys who have them for 1911
who have no problems.
