Question about Russian SVD. and TIGER rifles.
Anyone heard of California Armory that used to be in San Bruno. Ca? They supposedly imported 700 or so short barreled Dragunov rifles called Tiger. What do those examples sell for today ? We're they well made ? Good shooting guns ? Any information would help. There is one that might come up for sale. I never see them in stores. The one that might be offered stayed unfired since new, but does not come with anything other than original Russian rifle bag. No flash hidee, no magazine.

I am familiar with it. Very few imported. It is a real SVD receiver and real SVD stock but shorter barrel. No flash hider sucks though, because front sight is attached to it.
Value is a **** shoot because there aren't enough around to gauge a sale off of, lacking all the parts certainly brings the value down.
As far as shooting, it ain't going to win a shooting match but it should shoot straight enough. I would liken it to shooting an off the rack Remington 7400 carbine in 30-06 - big bark and flash and it will hit the target but kind of clunky and kicks harder than you thought it should.

Check out a YouTube guy with the name " Forgotten Weapons " . He did an excellent video on the SVD, Tiger and clones. Worth watching.

SVDs are all over the place. Asking prices seem to get crazier and crazier with actual selling prices seeming to stay between $4k and $5k (for Tigers and Norinco NDMs). There was a time when the Tiger guns weren't nearly as desirable but they've crept up in the past 4-6 years.

The Tiger doesn't come with a flash hider and the stock is quite different from the SVD. There a complete ones listed on auctions sites with a Buy Now price around $5,800.

The Tigr was a hunting rifle. Slightly different than the real SVD. prices are insanely high. Mags are next to impossible to find and cost a lot. Not worth it unless you really really want that gun

Here is a site with info on the Tiger.
Dragunov dot net - Izhmash Dragunov Tiger Hunting Rifle
I stand corrected. Apparently there were some Tigers imported with a flash hider and the SVD type stock but less than 1,000 according to the site linked above. The bulk of the imports between 1993-94 were the more common "hunter" style.

SVD Tigr Cal Armory
Hi Everyone,
I am new to this forum and it seems like a great group of knowledgeable firearms enthusiasts hang out here. The only thing I would like to add is that the Military Dragunovs are designated squad rifles and shouldn't be compared with bolt action sniper rifles for accuracy. Having said that, they do have a good reputation for reliability and reasonable accuracy. Many shooters are hoping that many more will soon come into the US now that we have a firearms friendly president. Are you looking to purchase one or are you interested in selling one?
