Mossberg Mini Marine
My oldest NFA/Title II firearm: 12 ga. 8” Mossberg 500 AOW
Built by a SOT in WA in July 1989 for the princely sum of $300 – the $5 stamp took 13 months (August 1990) to get back from ATF. Over 3K rounds down the tube. So for its 28th birthday I decided to take it to Robar* for the NP3 treatment…
I now have a Mossberg Mini Marine! Great for repelling pirates… or any other varmints.
*A.) I live only 12 miles from Robar B.) I have taken/sent many different firearms to them for NP3 coating over a 25+ year period.

Wow! That goes beyond beautiful. Looks incredibly functional...and deadly. Great photos, too.

Robar is a great comp-any with a good product. It was started by a South African, Robbie Barkmann. I met him in Rhodesia when I was there for the World IPSC shoot, I think that was 1977.

I have seen Robbie several times at his shop. He also did an NP3 coating on my Mini UZI SMG... he liked that one.

Over 27 years it ate up mostly 2 3/4" low base that I had bought cases of when it was super cheap. I had the Pachmayr solid rubber pistol grip on it for 23 years and the gun was a *****cat to shoot. At first people didn't want to fire it but after watching me shoot it for a while they then wouldn't put it down. I didn't shoot a lot of 3" Magnum slugs or 000 buck compared to the cheap stuff. I am now using Aguila MiniShells, from 7 1/2 shot to slugs and buck. 2 + 1 VS 4 + 1!

Nice setup with the shorty, Robar has an excellent product and service. The short shotgun has been a part of my kit since the 70's. The agency I retired from issued Remington 870's with pachmayr grip and barrel lopped off just past the mag tube. These were issued to "special details", and our duty load was WW #4 buck. I had one assigned to me for over 20 years, they are a specialized tool in the tool box. I also instructed and certified officers with this shotgun, that was always interesting.

I love it... it's so cute!
I always thought that if there was one lead launcher that cried out for a laser-aimer, it was these shorty shotguns. Seems it would be hard to aim one sighting in the conventional manner, more so than even a 12 or 14" version.
