Hello all ... I am looking for a fair value, trade/sale value. This is a Dan Wesson Model 14, 357 cal from 1974. Please see the picture, this is complete, original box, warranty card, tools, manual and price manual. Gun is pristine and would rate it a solid 95-98 %

Thank You in advance, Brian

You might check completed auctions on Gunbroker.com and see if any of these have sold in recent times. I've only had one Dan Wesson; it was about ten or so years ago. Mine was certainly a good one, but when I checked prices on these back then, they varied more than prices on any firearm I've ever seen. Never could really figure out what they were worth. Perhaps prices have stabilized since then.

Thank you for the reply, I also did some research and they are kinda all over the place. I figured this would be a good starting point with all the collectors here. Have a Great Day, Thank You

Brian

Dan Wesson was the grandson or Great Grandson of DB Wesson, so it’s still all in the family. As to value, I collect Dan Wessons but I collect the later model 15’s, 22’s, 40’S (SUPERMAGS) and the 44’s. The Model 14 is somewhat collectible but it is a much smaller group. The Model 14 (called the porkchop) in the condition as yours would probably fetch $400 to $600 at a gun show. You might have better luck to reach a model 14 collector on the DW forum site though.
Regards,
George

Prices for the 14 and 15 models are all over the place. About a year ago I purchased a 15-2VH (357 mag vented heavy barrel) which is a later (1978) model than yours for $500. Mine is in similar condition to the one you have and also included the box and tools. The main difference between the 14 and 15 is the 15 has adjustable sights and the 14 has fixed. Let me know when you decide, I may be interested.

The box and condition are a plus, but finding a collector will be key; it’s not a particularly desirable configuration. it’s a fixed sight, matte, solid rib, pork chop, with a relatively stiff double action, 6” 357. I’d try to get 450 from it, but may settle on an offer of 400 locally. Or list it on gunbroker for $.01, and find out what it’s really worth.

That's what I've noticed, too. I thought maybe I was just ignorant about some nuances of the brand or market, and I may be, but it was perplexing to similar guns priced so differently.

The Dan Wesson people know far more about this than I do, but I think these guns have been made by several manufacturers over the years. Apparently some did good work, some didn't; that may have something to do with prices being all over the place.
