Kel-Tec Sub 2000?

Don't know if I would say that.
9mm usually only picks up a couple of hundred feet per second out of a carbine or longer barrel over handgun velocities.
When comparing equal bullet weights between 9mm and .357, the .357 is still way ahead in power.

Correct. The longer carbine barrel adds a couple hundred FPS to the 9mm +124 bullet, giving it the same approximate velocity as the average 357 mag 125 grain bullet fired out of a revolver. Same bullet energy, give or take a couple foot pounds.......

Guys seems the overall consensus is very positive on these sharp little folding carbines. I’m currently deployed in Afghanistan, but this one’s on the wish list for when I get home. :)

I see in June American Rifleman, page 82, there is a recall notice posted by
Kel-Tec for a group of their SUB-2000 rifles manufactured in 2017. Some sold in 2017 some in 2018. It has to do with barrel heat treatment.

I've got one....

...it's great in every way except for one thing. The sights are so low that you have to plaster your face to the buttstock tube to see the post through the peep. There is a Red Dot and mount sold that I want to buy that folds to the side so it won't interfere with folding the gun, but it costs a few hundred dollars. It's gangs of fun to shoot. Simple blowback with a heavy bolt.

Warning: Cock the gun before taking the bolt out for cleaning and do not pull the trigger. If you do this, you will have to push a dowel in the front to behind the trigger where you can reset it. If this happens you won't be able to get the bolt back in. Better not to have to do this a lot.

I had a 1st Gen 9mm that took S&W 59 mags. Cheek weld was an issue, as was left handed shooting (blowback to the face).

Based on my experiences with one, I can't really recommend one. I'd say they'd be a good fit for home defense for someone with below average strength, but they're not easy to charge, even with an aftermarket charging handle sleeve.

While longer, heavier, and non-folding, the Ruger carbine just feels a ton better to the shoulder and in the hands.

The 2000 is not in the class of the Ruger carbine, 2 totally different weapons other than caliber. They each have a place in the arsenal, just depends on the use. I have both, the Ruger is a rifle, the 2000 is a compact you can tuck away anytime and anywhere. I have fun at the range with both, but I would use the 2000 for truck gun, home defense, hike in the woods before I would taker the Ruger.

I had no problem modifying my cheek weld, and sighting down the barrel, nor did I find charging it to be an issue. But overALL.. IT'S FUN TO SHOOT and it's an absolute tac driver... it's not a rifle..
