Was going through photos on the hard drive to determine which were worth keeping.
Had forgotten about this particular photo. Looking at this knife and pistol there is a
definite aura that these were a WWII soldier's weapons of last resort.

Brings to mind the last couple of scenes in "Saving Private Ryan" Running out of machinegun ammo on the second floor and the Capt at the bridge!

E-Tool is short for entrenching tool. The small shovel used for digging fox-holes and other needed holes. You take and sharpen one edge of the shovel blade so it is more like an axe.

Yikes!
An Assault Shovel

Yes, I keep an e tool in my vehicle as well. Most of the time a small chain saw as well. In my world, being stuck somewhere where a tree has fallen across the road, or you need to dig out of a snow bank are more of a threat than TEOTWAWKI, zombie apocalypse scenarios!!

Oh, yeah, the sharpened edge on the shovel lets you chop through roots and vines as well as other uses.

And yes, I usually have a big knife and pistol as well. As pointed out above, just as usful today as back then!!

Nice pistol and knife, by the way!!

Best Regards, Les

No, not "An Assault Shovel". A true weapon of last resort. When you get them inside the wire anything becomes a weapon of last resort.

I was not referring to a shovel for use as an offensive weapon. Rather, my concern is that a shovel with a sharpened edge and a grip perpendicular to the major axis runs afoul of New Jersey’s Assault Shovel Ban.
